When to visit West Coast?

We have been tentatively thinking about a trip to LA and San Fran at some point in the future (no idea where to start with planning!)

I was having a look at the annual weather but just wondering from other peoples experiences when is a good time to go.

We would never go to Florida in summer as the heat and humidity would be too much for us. Is this the case in California too? We usually visit Florida in November or end of Feb.

Debbie.

it all depends on what you intend to do on your trip. If you are wanting to see the state and national parks at their best then end of May is a great time as the snow has gone but the waterfalls are in full flow (Normally). But you can have a few cool days up north. But if you are going to death valley, vegas or plan springs then you don't want to go mid summer at the heat will be too much. But for LA and the beaches summer is ideal.
Personally we have found end of May better then end of September.

Thanks. We have done Vegas so won't head down there. Would like to do San Fran, San Diego , Anaheim and Hollywood. That's just off the top of our heads though as we have only just starting thinking about it. It's all a bit daunting and makes Florida look so easy!

We did San Fran in a mid September, it gets cool after 5 pm when the clouds come it. And San Diego can be in the 90's one day and drop 10/15 degrees the next! Its our favourite city in the US!
