I hated Peter Pan in Paris, so won't be going in Florida
Oh, I think 7DMT is definitely hyped. Ever try to get a FP+ for it? They go like hot cakes! There's been huge buzz about it for years.

Out of interest, what did you hate about PPF in Paris? The WDW version is a very different experience. The Paris version has only recently had a major refurb, and the level of detail you can see in there now is absolutely stunning. The ride system is now much smoother too - previously I had to brace myself when flying out of the window and when it goes down towards Hook in the crocodile's mouth, but now it is so smooth there's no problem.

As others have said, 'over-rated' is a tricky concept. It's different from 'ride you most hate'. No-one could say that, for example, Stitch's Great Escape is over-rated or over-hyped. Pretty much every review I've ever read says it's terrible. And even as a Stitch fan, I'd have to agree.

And then there are the classic Disney rides and attractions. Jungle Cruise, Carousel of Progress, Tiki Room etc. You need to understand their history to know why they have such a place in people's hearts. If you judge them by a new, modern theme park ride or attraction you are likely not to see what all the fuss is about.

Add to that the fact that Disney specialise in non-thrill rides. As Queen of Team Wimp, that is the right approach for me. Other parks concentrate on thrill rides and shove in a few kiddie rides to keep the little ones happy, but which don't give much pleasure to adults who ride them without children. Disney's approach is different. I don't do anything more 'extreme' than POTC (admittedly the Paris version which has 3 minor drops) but I can go on dozens of rides at a Disney park, as well as enjoying shows and other attractions.

Saying 7DMT is bad because it's not a thrill ride is like saying ice cream is bad because it doesn't taste like hot dogs!

That said, I'm going to be slightly controversial and ask why all you thrill addicts love the Peoplemover so much?! I mean, yes, it's a nice sit down and I get to see inside Space Mountain, which otherwise I'll never see... but why is it so beloved?

Disney is what it is. In this day and age it's an antidote to a thrill rides park. To say I don't like this and I would never go on that again is absolutely fine but shouldn't be taken by others who have not experienced these rides as an indication that they are not enjoyable in their own way. In thirty nine days we'll be back having a wonderful time-again. Can't wait. Good thread by the way.

Thanks, I mainly started it in the hope that everyone would play down SDMT and then I can go on it with no queue, don't say anything but I think it's working

Also someone said Stitch? I can't think of a less "hyped" ride! I mean, it's pants, but Disney only operates it seasonally, they know it's pants!

No idea but we ride it every trip to MK. I thinks its to get the weight off your feet and get out of the heat for a few minutes with the advantage of usually no more than a couple of minutes queuing.

Over-hyped is pretty well defined... exaggerated claims of greatness.

Of course the problem comes in subjective use of "exaggerated"

Long-er queues are not an indicator of exaggeration, more like relatively well liked and slow throughput People wouldn't suffer those queues unless they really wanted to ride though.

Gill H... I didn't realise that people didn't like 7DMT because it wasn't a thrill ride?!?

Thanks Animagus for the proof that at least one kid doesn't love PP I actually know of a little boy that hated Disney's Magic Kingdom in its entirety It took about six years of brainwashing on the part of his parents though

We didn't like 7DMT because it had no soul. It left us feeling nothing. It was relatively inferior to Disney's bread and butter dark rides, and that old classic BTMRR. Yet the praise sold it big time. It was also uncomfortable, but not quite Barnstormer uncomfortable

I love thrill rides, and I also love the Peoplemover. I don't think it's controversial to ask, it's a good question imo.

The simple answer is humans are complex and liking one thing for a particular reason doesn't exclude something else for entirely differing reasons. People can like salt and sugar, but perhaps at different times

The answers are going to be personal but I'll give it a go.

It's a ride and not a park bench. You get the sense you're doing what you're supposed to be doing in a theme park, but without the need to be physically and/or mentally engrossed, and without queuing (at least when I've ridden it).

They could empty the contents of Spaceship Earth and I'd still ride it for the same reason. It's the closest you get to meditation on a ride, although Living with the Land is up there too.

Incidentally Carousel of Progress always fascinated me because it's a ride. I mean it's the thing that makes that show different. It was a huge hit originally presumably because of that fact?!?

For me, People Mover is understated and calm. Something you rarely get in WDW. It's a nice break and a family friendly whizz around, it feels like a mini-monorail which I always loved too!

Yes indeed.

I had completely forgotten about the monorail. On those odd occasions when the monorail is empty or when we used to be able to ride upfront... it was/is so wonderfully calm. The calm before the storm if you're travelling into MK that is
