We don’t have a dishwasher - but we are getting one in the next couple of weeks as my parents are moving and can’t take theirs as the new house needs a slimline. OH is very excited, he’s been the dishwasher for 4 years 😂

We had to change our denby dinner set as it wouldn’t fit in our new dishwasher and now have ones from IKEA - I couldn’t cope with having to wash up!

I can honestly say I have never used a washing up bowl - we had dishwasher growing as up in the 1960’s onwards and did a heck of a lot of entertaining and when I bought my first home in the 1980’s my must have list was a dishwasher and microwave above washing machine (but ended up with all - albeit my parents old washing matching and hoover but new dishwasher my priorities lol)

I’ve got 2 dishwashers and before Covid when the family are all here both can be filled to the brim and on
I’ve actually got both going right now as I’ve been batch cooking and baking
The only things I hand wash are a couple of my Le Cruset pots and my Caithness crystal glasses and the dog dishes
Every thing else including my other crystal glasses tumblers and good China get bunged in
Life is way to short to wash dishes

Perhaps I just don’t get it because I’ve never had/used one, if we were talking washing clothes in a bowl and using a wringer I’d maybe understand, but it takes 5 minutes to wash up by hand 🤔🤔🤔

Once you get one your would never look back - load it up as you go and I (if not entertaining) just switch it on auto button when I retire for the night and get up to clean, dry, sparking dishes . I put everything in and always have - antique stuff eg my grannies china, crystal glasses, silver cutlery in a special basket the lot etc and I have hands that don’t do dishes lol (if you a are too young for Nanette Newman)

Totally agree. Doing my first kitchen pre children my friend was horrified i hadn't planned a dishwasher having never had one. I love love a dishwasher. Load up as you cook. Would not be without one now.

We recently bought a new every day dinner service from M&S. Can't remember the name of it but it's plain white and square rather than round. It's a really nice dinner service until it comes to trying to stack it in the dishwasher... it doesn't fit in properly so seems to fall over. Once it starts falling, nothing in the dishwasher above it seems to clean properly. Drives me mad because it's something we just didn't think about when buying it.

Perhaps it ought to be raised with manufacturers so they can work together and then everything will fit!
