Before this ****:

Monday - Friday:
10:00-18:00 & 18:45-23:00 OR 12:00-20:00
Saturday -
09:00-17:00 & 18:45-00:00 OR 09:00-19:00 OR 13:00-00:00 (could often be finding at 03:00 Sunday morning instead of midnight)
Sunday -
10:30-1700 & 18:00-00:00

I worked 6 days a week, always a variety of these shifts. I averaged 80 hours a week, the longest was 117hrs and I was delirious by the end - but right now I would do it again in a heart beat. I would ALWAYS do whatever needed to be done, regardless of hours and in the travel job regardless of pay - theatre pay hourly so pay was nearly always included.

Right now - I work 17 hours a week on a temp contract and there’s absolutely no overtime and I am climbing the walls.

I'm in a similar boat to you OP, in that I am contracted for 37.5 hours per week but probably do more like 50ish, plus I sometimes take stuff home.

I don't get paid beyond 37.5, but they're the hours I feel I need to do to meet the needs of my clients. I could probably do less if I wanted to, but I'd be constantly manic. I'd rather do a bit more to feel a bit more relaxed about my workload, if that makes sense.

Some weeks, I do more like 70 to 80 hours, maybe 3 or 4 weeks a year like that, but I do get paid for the extra 20-30 hours a week on those weeks.

Contracted 9 - 5 Monday to Friday (35 hours). I manage my own workload and don’t do any extra hours.

I used to work for a company where there was a culture of managers being expected to do a fair amount of unpaid overtime, if anyone ever questioned it they were accused of not being up for the role, poor at time management or not being a team player, thankfully those days are behind me.

I work 8:30-4:30 with half hour for lunch (if I am lucky). (Term time only)

I stay late most nights and very late occasionally and I and pick up emails at home.

I work in a school but I’m not a teacher. However there is a culture in teaching that expects evening and weekend work so I would only get paid overtime if I did a large project during a school holiday.
