I remember being in Woolworths in Keswick on the first day of decimalisation. There were loads of signs hanging up with conversion tables.

My brother and I convinced our grandma that time was going to be decimalised in 1972. 100 minutes in an hour, 10 hours in a day. She was livid!

One for you Tom. Made this 75 or 76 for o level metalwork and still use today, in fact it was used all over Christmas when we light our open fire.

I assume it's a poker? Is the handle 'brazed' on? Nice that you still have it.

They decided to give up on me in School (or did I give up on them) so I mainly did Carpentry and Metalwork. Long gone sadly but I made my Dad a wind up frame for a string line he used on his allotment. Plus loads of tat in woodwork such as candle holders, lamp bases etc.

Stood me in good stead for my Trade to come.

Steel rod , tap and die set, brass ring made and screwed on , likewise with aluminium,brass, aluminium and brass. As good as the day I made it if only an inch shorter.
