Doctors - Would you bother them right now?

Morning!

I've just moved to a new county and have set up with a new GP surgery.

I have ulcerative colitis and he had a few flare ups last year. I really need to be referred for a consultant. But I feel a little guilty bothering them right now.

Should I wait til I need them or just phone up?

This is the world right now, I feel guilty for everything!

Phone up. That’s the advice - you should continue to contact your Dr if you need them. Don’t wait until
It is a crisis as that makes your condition worse for you, and the nhs. Prevention/control is better for all than crisis management.

I would phone up. As you probably already know from experience, it takes time every single time you need to access "the system ". Do not feel guilty. Hopefully you'll be able to see someone.

I wouldn’t feel guilty especially if it’s something you’ve been waiting for.

I would chase if it were me.
I've just moved from Cheltenham where I had a brilliant hospital team. I could email and get a call that day. So I'm hoping its similar in Somerset. Its hard when your used a certain standard of care. But I will phone up and get the ball rolling again.

My GP practice are now working 0800-2000hrs 7 days a week (well last weekend and this as had a text) to alleviate the pressure on 999 calls etc. So yes call them or use ‘myGP” app - expect a telephone triage appointment rather than face to face initially but they are there to help and want to be there for you .

Thank you! But I'm not poorly right now. I just need to have a consultant's care. And as I've moved, I have to be referred by a GP.
