I think I’m fighting a losing battle,🤷 I do alot in between dibbing and online shopping oh and talking and cuddling my dog!

With the amount of coffee he buys, I bet he has a stack of empty cups.
I normally tip the postman. I used to tip the bin men but not now. I would tip a tradesman if he was any good at his business

The problem is I'm not very good at what I do, and that's why I only get complaints and not tips. Although I did have a customer last year who was really happy with my service (I guess I could knock on her house for a Christmas tip).

Why not sit outside Costa with a empty Coffee cup, you’ll probably get some good tips that way! 😬

I couldn't do that because it's begging. I have thought about handing each customer a Christmas card at their door when I ask for a tip with a note inside saying I am getting better at doing electrics, and mention about the happy customer I had last year?

Every year my dh wants me to write out Christmas cards for his customers, he is perfectly able to write his own cards out but doesn’t. I have enough to do so I refuse, dh is off to see a client to pick up a gift today. I don’t want to rub your nose in it (well I do!) He talks a lot to customers and comes back with their life stories, maybe you need to work on your people skills. You need to put the groundwork in over the year so they remember you at Christmas time lol! 😁

I don't get anything from customers but complaints. I have tried working on my customer skills by not swearing or passing wind in their presence as often, but that's not working. I get some customers that complain about trivial things such as the sockets I install being lopsided, which is ridiculous because they still work fine.

Mickey some people are never happy it would not matter what you did for them tbh. You work hard enough and we all know you are a kind and considerate husband so take comfort in that.

well, that's just me, but if tip is "deserved" I would have already seen to that each time it was appropriate.

I guess if you came to me, on top of that, to somehow play the sensitive cord and christmas time spirit, to get a few quids extra ... you would realise someone else would be working for me by New Year's.

but again, that's just me

I appreciate your honesty, but I'm hoping that with a 10% discount voucher in the Christmas card and the review highlighted from my one satisfied customer last year, that might help the customers trust me with more work in the future.
