Not that you need any more comments but I paid $20 yesterday at Epcot and showed my receipt at Animal Kingdom a few hours later so I didn't have to pay again.

Thanks everyone for confirming that you can still transfer parking between parks 👍 and thanks to Nimbus for posting the prices.
We just swapped accommodation to one which doesn't provide a free Disney shuttle so need to build in parking costs for the holiday. |

You're welcome.
Parking costs can add up when you're visiting the parks over several days. As has been mentioned several times in the past, it's a pity Disney doesn't do a weekly parking pass or something similar.

The $22 may have come from the charge at the universal hotels

I'm not sure why?
Offsite guests would have to pay for the weekly parking pass (let's say, $120 for a weekly pass). Onsite guests would still get free parking. So onsite guests would still get the same free parking perk as before. Offsite guests could prepay for their parking pass all in one go rather than paying each day. Disney gets some money upfront and a guarantee that the offsite guest will visit for most of the week.

Currently staying onsite gives the perk of $280 worth of parking ($20 x 14 days), by offering offsite guests a slightly cheaper alternative, although it may be a minimal reduction, it still devalues the onsite perk when looked at in isolation. ($120 pw would be a ~14% reduction in the value of the onsite perk).
I agree there are some potential benefits in offering reduced parking rates for offsite guests e.g. potentially people visit more which leads to potential increase in sales etc., however in some cases Disney don't want a load more people in the park, main reason being that the more that are standing/queuing for rides the less there are actually shopping/spending. Also, if an offsite guest already has a 14-day Disney pass (no increase in ticket sales), if they don't spend anything whilst visiting Disney, then by giving them a cheaper parking rate, all they are doing is making the parks busier with very little gain. I'm sure there's a formula / optimum amount of people that Disney aim for to get the balance of waiting v riding v spending. |
