Table service meals-swapping?

At a table service restaurant can you swap and have an appetiser instead of a dessert on the dining plan?

The swap option exists, but it's at the discretion of the restaurant. And it's usually limited to a soup or salad, rather than their actual appetisers.

I have never heard of anyone being allowed to swap dessert for an appetiser. Soup/salad, yes. I think that's because they are considered a "side" rather than an app, but I may be wrong.

I've never heard of it as an option either. Has it changed recently Loldis?

I don't know about in previous years, but it's definitely an option this year (in the fine print of the dining plan) and appears to be there again next year. But it seems to very much be an "ask your server" thing and not widely publicised.

But isn't the "potential substitution" you ask your server about limited to a soup or salad, ie. where does it say you can swap dessert for an appetiser?

Yes, which is what I said in my first post - "usually limited to soup or salad"

Definitely cannot swap for an appetiser, but as some have mentioned you can swap for either a salad, a soup or in some cases a cheese board if that is on the menu.
I have found that swapping for the soup/salad is only available at very limited restaurants, and it is usually signatures over standard TS places

Sorry to piggy back, but does anyone know if you can have 2 starters instead of a main?

You could ask, but don't think so, unless there is a specific reason eg.allergies etc. Alternatively you could ask to have a larger portion of the starter as your main course?
