I have no clue
Hi, after seeing very cheap flights to Tokyo this morning £450 ish in total, for me and youngest who will be 10 at time of travel, I'm thinking we may do Japan a year early next May.
I know the flights would be Aeroflot and a stop in Moscow flying into Narita airport. I would be happy just to take it all in and would like to do disney. DS loves all things pokemon, loves technology and nature. Does anyone have any thoughts on reasonable decent accommodation and also how long is reasonable. I was thinking 10 nights as this would incorporate May half term. I have also been costing up BA to see if there is much in it, as hotel costs seem quite high. Is that generally the case anyway? Thanks |

If you are planning to visit in May, check when Golden Week falls. This is a week of bank holidays and everywhere, especially Tokyo Disney, will be EXTREMELY busy.

For 2018 avoid April 30th to 5th May (Golden week). The place will be crawling. Also avoid end of August kids will be going back to school so families hit the park in the last week. Hotels can be expensive but there are neighbourhood hotels around Disney.
There is a very good planning guide here: tdrexplorer/ultimate-toky...lanning-guide/ You might like to tread my trip report: http://DIBB.in/8969983 Edited at 10:12 PM. |

also try looking at Emirates and Etihad they do flights, we picked ours up in the sale, not as cheap though. If you are doing Disney and then Tokyo I suggest staying in two locations. there's nowhere particularly "central" to everything so it will save you travelling so much each day.

I'm a combination of scared and excited-I've just booked to go 26th July -11th August just me and my youngest. Flights are with Aeroflot. Slightly worried as I've now just found it's a major earthquake zone Youtube videos and trippies will be consumed by the shed load now Thanks for all of your help everyone. We won't really want to move around too much, but things that we really want to see are the Pokemon mega centre, the shibuyu crossing, the Honda robot and just take in the atmosphere. Oh and Disney. I'd better get reading

I'm still in the planning part... but looking to go 20th July to 1st August next year just me and my 17yo ds.
Have a couple of hotels provisionally booked on booking.com just got to decide between the two. Flights I'm still checking prices and can't decide between economy and premium (at the minute about £200 between them). Been watching loads of YouTube vids to get the hang of the metro/trains - and started a list of things we want to see and do. I've discovered there is the Sumidagawa firework festival and also the Shinjuku Eisa festival both at the end of July so hope to fit them in. Can't wait! |

Rae that sounds fantastic! I was also looking at Airb'nb but after reading the earthquake bit, I'd rather be with people that could help, lol! I have always wanted to go, but only decided to bite after seeing open jaw tickets on holiday pirates, lol! I think we are going to base ourselves in either Shibuyu or Shinjuku (sp) I can't believe we're going! I also can't wait to see the toilets after Geoffa's report, rotfl! As you can see, airline wise we've gone ultra cheap. £633.00 for the pair of us from Paris but returning to London. Achange at Moscow and hoping all goes well I don't blame you debating the comfort though I also didn't realise it was a 9 hour time difference! At least we won't be jetlagged coming back, lol

Wow... those flights are really good! We need to fly from Manchester so limits us a little. I'm only thinking of premium for my son - he's 6ft and not sure how he'll be legroom wise in economy for 12ish hrs.
I've always wanted to go too, dragging son with me as my excuse is he'll be too old soon to travel with me lol We're looking at ikebukuro (5 minute walk to Sunshine City where the big Pokemon center is) or Asakusabashi which is cheaper than Asakusa but close to akihabara. I've been playing with a free app called navitime Japan travel - which lets you see how much trains will cost from say your hotel to Tokyo Disney, it also lists stops and changes etc. |
