Dollar at Tampa Airport

I have heard some good and bad reports from people that have hired with Dollar recently so am not really wanting to hear anything bad but what I would like to know if anyone has been to Tampa recently do you get to choose from a row or are you handed keys to a particular car. I have read trip reports where some people are given a car not a choice. Does this depend on the company or location?

Last July they gave us a choice from a row of cars. I know you don't want to hear anything bad, but they did try to force us to have a smaller car than we had paid for. We stood our ground and the type of car we had paid for suddenly appeared! Better to be forewarned .

Thank you, I will certainly have my wits about me! Thanks to all the dibbers on here am aware of all the tricks they try... we have insurance that includes an extra driver and a tank of petrol so there is not much more they can try to add on!

Even if you are given the keys to a car that you have not chosen for yourself, just say no if you have another preference. You are the customer.

Dollar tend to allocate cars at Tampa rather than give you choice, those that have had a chance to pick have been lucky.
