Smoking on Excursions

Hi all,

Not looking for a debate about the rights or wrongs of smoking however; what I am wondering is whether anybody knows what the 'rules' are for smoking on excursions? We're looking at the 7 night western caribbean cruise and are looking at some excursions on Jamaica etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Any time I have been on a tour or travelled on local transport smoking has been a no no.
I suppose when you are in the open there would be nothing to stop you, not sure though.

Not sure which cruise line you're on. We've done the eastern and western with RCI and found smoking areas on the ship fine (three decks outside and also the casino).

On excursions you can't smoke on the transport but can smoke when you get off no problem. We are definitely a minority now . Have stopped a few times but always started again.

Brilliant, thank you both. I'll be on DCL for 7 nights I expect that you can't smoke on the transport so that's no problem but I wasn't sure if you could when you got off places at planned excursions (guided tours and such). I suppose I couldn't be stopped in a public place but don't want to be disrespectful in any way!

We definitely are a minority now cheeky- I'm the only one in my office at work and there were very few adults smoking on DCL last year.

Thanks for asking this - my OH smokes (I don't) and he'd asked about being on the ship but not when we got off?

So, feet in first ... there's nothing to stop you from smoking in the outdoors when on excursions. Presume you would be respectful of those who don't smoke and stand away from them etc.

But, I would caveat that with a personal comment and I hope you are not offended by it as I absolutely do not mean to offend...

When people have a cigarette then get in a vehicle, it smells. It's not nice and I know from being an ex smoker, that you can't smell it at all. So, I would say, if you would like to smoke, go for it, be respectful as I'm sure you are anyway but please don't have one if you're getting back in a vehicle within 10 minutes (or take loads of mints and spray).

What about an e-cig just for the excursions?

Told the OH he needs to either not have a cigarette or go and find a smoking area, preferably away from me!

On DCL, they're aren't any cabins near smoking areas really.

Absolutely no offence taken I'm a very 'respectful' smoker and the reason I'm asking is that I don't want to disrespect/ offend anybody. Thank you for the advice- I didn't know how it worked on organised excursions and whether there would be any other smokers (sounds daft but I don't notice many of us in the US).

I'm always well stocked with mints and spray too haha
