They tend to use the same areas but it can vary depend on stand allocations at the airport, so if there are delays, or an aircraft that has gone tech blocking the stand they could be moved to another

I think it can vary, we flew with Virgin in 2016 and we seemed to be walking forever to get to the plane, last year we flew BA but walked past the Virgin plane and it didnít seem so far down as before

As above, VA usually use gates in the 560s for the Orlando flights, however they have been known to swap to gates in the 50s (they normally fly out of these gates to Vegas etc) as TUI also fly a lot out of the 560s.

With respect, the above is not possible. Since late Jan 2017 Virgin have flown from the North Terminal & BA from the South Terminal at Gatwick. Prior to this it was the other way round. You may have seen the other airlines plane(s), but they were at a different terminal.

Generally speaking all airports try to allocate their big airline customers gates in a similar area of the terminal each day where possible. This allows the ground staff to leave airline specific branded stuff (e.g. the Boarding signs etc) near the gates they are normally used at. But as always, a faulty aircraft / delayed aircraft / broken ground equipment etc can always throw a spanner into the works and a different gate gets allocated.

I would agree with itsmeGAV above. I fly out of LGW north a LOT and I have seen the 747s taxiing in/out to the gates in the picture above. I donít recall seeing any 747s in the 50s. I have seen some of their planes over the airbridge, but again never a 747
