Very expensive food the cheapest was water and pop at $1 a bottle of 1ltr but the bread... $3.98 for a loaf of bread! Couldn't believe it lol we have $200 a day and we are having to be very careful just save a little so we can have some spends at a mall. Ponderosa for breakfast is $40 for 4 of us. Bahama breeze $80 for 4 meals 1 bud 1 cocktail and 2 cokes TGI Fridays was $60 excluding tip for 4 meals and 4cokes. Bought cereals at Walmart and snacks and water and planning on a few McDonald's meals to even everything out. Amazing place glad to be back hotel avanti is beautiful very neutral position on idrive.
Try Shula burger on the 192 west great meal good price a little bit more up market than mc Donald's and miles better , best burger we have had and they do lovely cocktails

We stay in Bradenton and have a Walmart Publix and an Aldi literally at the end of the street. We tend to use Aldi for a lot of the staples Bread Milk Walmart Deli for some meats , they were doeing a special last July buy a lb of ham get a half pound of cheese free Publix for Boars Head and if there are Specials Target can be very good price wise

Some one mentioned getting off the touristy spots and prices tend to improve I would vouch for that big time. We have family in Ellenton and they find Orlando Prices very high compared to down there

I've never known how they can sell them so cheap, especially with what seems like a pound of sugar per loaf, they are so sweet. So for a decent loaf you need to move to specialty , like Italian, and then the price is at the $3-4 range.
