3:collect your luggage from the carousel.
4:take luggage to the next bag drop that's at the bottom of the first escalator (not far from baggage claim.
5:put your luggage on the bag drop (airport worker will do this for you if you wish)
6:proceed to main airport building via monorail.
7:proceed to DME (no checkin desk these days just cast members near the coaches)
8:checkin with cast member and they will ask about luggage and take the baggage claim numbers that were stuck in the back of one of your passports at departure airport (little green stickers with numbers and barcodes) be sure to tell CM the number of cases and this should match the number of stickers.
9:get DME to your resort.
10:your luggage will magically appear in your room within a couple of hours.

My step by step guide may seem long winded but it's not difficult at all.
We also pack one small case with items that we may need for the first few hours (swimmers, change of underwear, fresh Tshirts, toileteries etc)

Hope this helps 😊
Ah interesting. I knew you could take advantage of the ME collection but I never knew how it worked. This is great, you should add it to the guidebook. Am tempted to do it myself. With two toddlers it would be very handy to go straight to the resort without having to collect luggage off second bag drop.

Incidentally OP I've used second bag drop and it was fine. Think you can have issues if it rains but generally I think it's ok. I'd just like to avoid it to save my arms!

It's so easy to do and is a godsend when you have littleone's.
I'm not too sure where the misinformation comes from regarding international passengers but I suspect it's that they don't send tags out to overseas guests, incidentally they now include identification tags in your Disney pack for your luggage if booked direct (not sure if you get them if booked by a TA) and I'm sure this is to help with the process.

Brilliant. I knew you could, it's a common misconception that you can't but I never knew how it truly worked.
Sorry for all the questions! We did the 2nd bag drop last time so I'm thinking from what you've said essentially MDE pick your bag up for you from 2nd collection carousel? How long does it take for the bags to get to hotel? Have you ever had a delay? I'm very tempted to do this!

Do you mean the luggage tags with Disney characters on them? If so they're not ME tags as WDTC also now send the same tags to people who've booked DLP with them (someone recently posted a photo of them on a DLP forum I go on). I'll be getting mine in a couple of months time :-)

I think the character tags help a little with identifying for the CM.

Americans get sent yellow ones specifically for ME which the CMs use to identify ME luggage.

I don't think the CMs would take any notice of the normal Disney character tags as a lot of people staying on site hire cars, they don't use ME.

It's a pity they won't send the tags to international guests. Are they barcoded in advance or if I could acquire some ahead of time do you just fill in the (yellow) tags they send to US travellers ? (Have friends who work for Disney non parks in Orlando so thinking it might work )

It doesn't matter, see my step by step guide.
We have done this every time with no tags and no issues.
