Just thought of another downside which, as we always drive, isn't obvious to us.

People choose to ignore this advice and elect to park at DS then catch a bus to Caribbean Beach Resort for example. The fireworks finish and 10,000 guests rush to the exit plazas and 1,000 of them head for the CBR bus stop. You could be the last one in the queue and see 30 buses pass before you board Then you have to wait maybe 30 minutes at CBR for a bus to DS. You could have been tucked up in bed more than an hour ago.

Pretty much all covered in above posts. However buses do now run direct between Disney Dprings and Parks after 4pm. Also there is no direct monorail between Magic Kingdom and Epcot, you have to change monorail lines at The Transportation Centre.
