Hi thanks for all your replies, we can't fly as sister in law has lots of medical issues, and my son won't fly, ( he's also coming hopefully as he wouldn't do Florida with us) he has a learning disability and will not get on a plane tried a short cruise he loved it.

My hubby has ruled out American based ships now as he's not sure about the food he only like plain meat , or burgers chips mash/ roast potatoes. In Florida he had burgers most days! And know he can find something in the buffet on P O

P&O do 2 week cruises fro. southampton. If you know you like them I’d stick with them. I think they are quite reasonably priced as well.

Yes I'd stick with P&O then. The food on the American lines isn't exactly exotic but it may not be made in the same way he is used to. Although you can certainly get burgers and chips lol.

Maybe have a look at Britannia as she's a newer ship and a bit bigger with more going on. Or the newest Iona depending on when you want to cruise! Think she's due 2020

We just got off Brittannia. I thought it was lovely. Certainly had no complaints.

We had the most fantastic cruise on P and O Azura in July around the Western Med. Thoroughly recommend. We enjoyed the sea days going from Southampton. This was a Strictly cruise

I think someone else has mentioned Marella (tui) and they do have some UK sailings in the summer on Explorer. The food is fabulous but not over fancy and lots that I think you would like. There was always a roast of the day in the buffet.

This is how we felt, we did it once and those 2 sea days at the beginning and 2 at the end when it wasn't warm enough to sit on deck (end of Aug - Sept) felt like wasted days.

We love both Celebrity and Princess and we've done 2 week cruises with both - all Med fly cruises. Couldn't fault food, entertainment, ships or itineraries. Lots of Americans on board and we did dress up as we enjoy it - but it's not mandatory.
I have a friend who does several cruises a year usually from the UK and they love Marella and Fred Olsen.
