Car hire continues to be a monster travel pain. For many, especially if you're staying onsite, resorting to Uber will likely be much more affordable. Perhaps the trick is to only hire a car for a few days and cram all your longer driving requirements into those few days. I hired a car for only 48 hours in January and the cost is almost $300.

After speaking with Andy at DFCH last week I am not actually sure they will come down :-( certainly not to prices we are used to
