I ended up getting an ergonomic office chair which has been very comfortable so far, both for work and for relaxation. There are several brands that do these but they vary hugely in price from affordable to ridiculously expensive. Apparently Ikea has some decent ones but I didn't check these out.

Would recommend trying out the chair in person if you can - my experience in the past and this time around is that there are sometimes chairs that sound great on paper but that I didn't like when I sat on them. I went to a local store that carries the chairs I was looking at, and interestingly found that I really didn't like the most expensive chair I was looking at (which of course looked perfect on paper)!

Thanks, I agree about trying them out. I need to do some better research to find actual places that stock the different chairs.
