Ontario And Quebec 2017: Day 6 - Messing Around on the River and an Old Friend

The morning view from our room!

I actually slept to 7am this morning - progress!

A lazy start to the day - everyone hot their own breakfast (maple bagels for me!)

The day then started by the water. F was back on her fishing quest - this year with a rod (bought at Decathlon )

This took some setting up as none of us gad properly fished before.

It became a whole family affair - though we were all dressed to the nines until I broke rank and got shorts on and lots of deet based anti mozzie lotion.

Lots of fish but problems with the reel!

I took some wildlife photos - hundreds of frogs around!

As well as dragonflies.

O's question of the day - "I understand why dragonflies are do called because the could be said to look like dragons! But butterflies - they don't look like butter... "

And success - a small trout. It was put back!

Happiness all around!

Then into the water - I have similar pictures from last year!

And out onto the river in the canoe!

I prepared lunch (stir fried veggies to put into tortilla wraps with humous and sour cream) and then we left for the 90minute drive to Brockville to meet up with a very old friend who I haven't seen for 7 years since she moved to Canada!

Brockville is on the St Lawrence river and across the waterway is Upper NY State!

We spent a lovely few hours catching up!

I drove back to the cabin and a simple omelette dinner was had - we were all very tired!

The fish are certainly bigger here than elsewhere we have been
