Mobile Port Orleans riverside or French quarter

Hi, only ever stayed at AKL on-site at disney, looking for next year to stay at either of these as they seem the cheapest that will (hopefully) include ddp when released. Which is the better hotel overall, watched the time trackers videos and I'm preferring riverside. It'll be 2 adults and a 10 year old child.

Thanks

Both are lovely and you can use the facilities at both too - just stroll along the river.

They're moderate resorts though, not deluxe resorts, so will only come with free QSDP if free dining is offered for 2020, not the DDP, but you can pay to upgrade. CBR and CSR are also moderate resorts and usually cheaper than POR/FQ.

You are completely right with regards to POFQ only being QSDP and having to upgrade, I wrote the statement out badly! The port Orleans resorts look nicer than the CBR and maybe CSR? Although I'm only going on photos etc.

I think you would enjoy either of the Port Orleans Resorts.

We stayed at French Quarter because it was smaller and we loved that it was an easy walk (stayed in block 5) to the pool, food court, bus stop and also reasonably close to the ferry.

We loved our stay at FQ and would happily stay there again if we had not bought into DVC or if we wanted to stay an extra week and pay cash.

Have a look on Andre's site at portorleans.org lots of great pictures and help etc on both Riverside and French Quarter.

We stayed at POR last summer. Visited FQ - both are lovely and have their plus points - I liked the trees and rivers at POR and smaller pools for quite swim, which makes up for being the larger resort.

Happily stay at either, and defo pop across to the other...even if just for food hall.

There’s a poll on this subject which is looking near enough 50/50 at the moment. People seem to love both for different reasons. We are having our first stay at FQ in October, I liked the fact it was a small resort and gets great reviews on trip advisor.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either though.

We stayed at the French Quarter and loved it but Riverside is lovely too, I don't think you can go wrong with either. What I loved about FQ is that there's only one bus stop, it's small so doesn't take long to walk anywhere. We used the Food Hall at Riverside as it was bigger than FQ and also used the pool there. I would happily to go back to FQ.

You really can’t go wrong with either. We’ve stayed three times at POFQ. We choose it over POR for how small the resort is so regardless of building you’re only ever a minute or two from amenities. We love the one bus stop (& they resorts rarely share) and POFQ has Coke Freestyle machines which gives a lot more options on diet drinks than just Diet Coke/Coke Zero.

We do spend plenty of time at POR for the pool and different food court offerings though.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I'll discuss it with my wife and see what the prices are when hopefully DDP becomes available. As you all say u think they both look nice and either will probably be a good option. Thanks again!

I absolutely love French Quarter because of the size and theming. I stayed in Riverside when it was called Dixie Landings many years ago and didn't like it. When I stayed at French Quarter last year I popped over to Riverside to see what I thought of it then - I still didn't like it.
