Revolut also offer a turbo transfer for £6- I would not bother as my funds on the standard (free) transfer arrive within 48 hours. I don't see the point in paying extra.

Another vote for Revolut here. Our dues come out of our Suntrust monthly. We transfer a fixed amount each month to cover dues plus building up a spends pot at the same time.

Can you confirm that there are no charges from the US Bank, please? I've read the Revolut blurb but it isn't clear, I know that XE used to if you sent by Swift but no longer do. I take it you don't pay the monthly fee?

I do not get charged by Suntrust or Revolut to transfer money. I use the slower regular service from Revolut because every £ in my pocket counts and I don't need the money moved in a hurry.

Suntrust account you have to maintain either a balance of over $500 or pay in $100 per month to avoid the $8 fee.

Revolut give you the mid market rate mon to friday, on weekend they do alter the rate by I think 2%, so convert during the week. Other than that no other charges as long as you use the standard transfer.

Good info, I got the revolut physical card few months back, not loaded or tried it yet but why o why didn't I open a Suntrust account when I was last in Orlando back in 2014, or New York in 2015, I knew I was getting stung every year paying the dues..

Guessing you can only open over there in person?

I believe so, yes.

I first opened a US account with Wachovia (or whatever it was they were called originally!) in NY in 2008 but never actually used it for dues! Been paying monthly from Suntrust now for a few years and it's been great, much easier to work into the monthly budget, no matter what good intentions we have to put the amount away each month, it somehow always ended up in the spending money savings instead!

You can pay monthly anyway, in advance not in arrears, with any credit card. If you want to pay monthly and are prepared to pay next year's dues monthly in advance, there is no need to have a US bank account (where I believe you've got to maintain a $500 balance anyway to avoid fees ).
