The Crew:
Paul (31), loves his gadgets, aka young man (&#33.
Louise (39), planner extraordinaire, aka old girl

Wednesday, April 24th

Up again at about 7.30am so that we could get to Magic Kingdom for opening at 9am. We had a PS booked at Cinderella’s Royal Table for 9.30, so wanted to get in and have a wander around first – at least that was the plan! Unfortunately, a little way up the 192 before we turned off towards Disney, there was an accident that held us up quite a bit, so by the time we arrived at Magic Kingdom, we were already running late. We parked in Dopey (he screamed a bit, but I think he liked it!&#33., boarded the tram and decided we liked the look of the ferry rather than the monorail.

Paul, of course, videoed the whole journey, including some maintenance men who seemed to be repairing a palm tree! The queues for security check and to get in where bigger than the previous day, but we expected that to be the case at Magic Kingdom. By now it was already 9.30, so only stopping briefly to take a couple of photos of the castle, we checked in to the castle for our breakfast. We were told to hold out our hands, and the CM checking us in put some little confetti like mickeys in each of our hands, and said ‘no stress for the rest of the day’ – ah sweet! We went into the entrance hall and waited to be called through for our table. The fairy godmother was sat on a throne and was having her picture taken with various small children; at least, I think it was the fairy godmother, because at first I thought it was one of the ugly sisters! Paul spotted a man sat across the hall who was wearing a very dodgy wig, and decided to pretend to video the hall, while actually he was zooming in on the poor chap with the dodgy ‘syrup’ and an even dodgier moustache! Even so, I’m sure he was a very nice person!!

We had a nice table by the window overlooking the square below, and had a nice pre-plated cooked breakfast with coffee, orange juice and muffins. Cinderella, Alice, Snow White, Jasmine and the Fairy Godmother (boy, was she ugly&#33. came round to each table, and made a bit of small talk. Paul took my photo with Snow White using the digital camera and he didn’t say ‘ready’ so I was pulling a strange face, and also I had hair from h#ll! Just before we left, Peter Pan ran along the balcony outside our window and waved in, hotly pursued by Captain Hook! We paid the bill, $33.82 plus tip and left just in time to watch Cinderella’s Surprise Celebration in front of the castle. I really enjoyed this, Paul complained that ‘they have to start singing, don’t they?’ but nevertheless, he videoed the entire thing! I went all tingly when Snow White and Prince Charming came out and sang Someday my Prince Will Come – I think this is what is meant by the Disney magic!!

We then did Snow White’s Scary Adventures, we sat at the front and we found it mildly amusing and then went into It’s a Small World, which was so twee it hurt and it is a bit cringe-making! Paul videoed virtually all of it though and can be heard on the video saying ‘I can’t believe you’ve got me onto this thing’! We then went on The Haunted Mansion, sitting at the front again, and although it wasn’t in the least scary, I only screamed because there was a small child riding near us, and I felt obliged! Next, we rode Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, at the front again, this was a good ride and I screamed where necessary. There were very few queues on the rides again today, so we then went onto Splash Mountain. It’s really weird, but for some reason, we are at the front of the queue for every ride today, which in the case of Splash Mountain was not good news, as we got a thorough soaking, except me more so than Paul!

We found a good spot to watch the Share a Dream Come True parade, and this was our first taste of a Disney parade and we thought it was really good. Tweedledee or Tweedledum (is there any difference) came up to Paul, who obviously was videoing the whole thing as usual, and picked his nose for the camera!

We then did Pirates of the Caribbean, another good show and then onto the Jungle Cruise which was showing a 20 minute wait time. Except, we were waiting for 50 minutes and everyone was complaining to the CMs about the wait time being inaccurate. This spoilt our enjoyment of the cruise and it certainly wasn’t worth the wait. Even when we left, the queue time was only showing 25 minutes. However, we both agreed that we have been extremely lucky with the queue times so far. Time was getting on now and the park closed at 6pm, so we only had time to ride The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. This was really good and I screamed where appropriate. We wanted to ride Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear, but knew we had to come back to watch Spectromagic later in the holiday anyway, as there were now two performances of it while we were there, so decided to do those two rides then.

Went back to the condo, freshened up and got changed then went to Lake Buena Vista Mall, but found it a bit disappointing and then went on up to Premium Outlet Mall. We had a good look around here and I nearly bought a new pair of sandals in Aerosoles, but decided against them. We had a coffee in Starbucks and by this time it was gone 9pm, so we left empty handed. As my hair was still from h#ll, we called into Walgreens on the way back and bought, amongst other bits and bobs, some hair de-frizzing stuff and anti-wrinkle cream and spent about $25 – I hope it works! Went to Taco Bell on 192, Paul had gorditas (sounds like some sort of social disease&#33. and coke and I had nachos with salsa and guacamole. Paul liked his gorditas but my nachos were a bit limp and the guacamole tasted strange – cost $9.95.

Back to condo, reviewed the days videoing activity and in bed at about 11.15pm. We enjoyed Magic Kingdom, much more than we thought we would, and had another thoroughly enjoyable and very full day. Tomorrow – Islands of Adventure. ]

Tingles and Goosebumps and that lump in the throat - that's the Disney Magic. Loved old "wiggy" - you should have got his autograph.

Islands of Adventure tomorrow - now that's my favourite for rides - I could have gone there every day !
