2 weeks... Disney/Off site/Universal Food Report - August 2016 - COMPLETE
Hey everyone
Just got back from 2 weeks (and a day) of staying 12 nights villa, and 3 nights on site at Universal and had an amazing time. So, I thought in keeping with my previous trip and the fact that I've got into quite a habit of going "wait.. picture first" after the food arrives at the table, I figured what the heck, I'll do another food report Where as before we've eaten mainly off site, this trip was more of a mixture as I made a couple of ADRs beforehand, we returned to our off site favourites (sometimes more than once) and also we were on site at Universal for the first time so there's more Citywalk restaurants on this trip. Also I found that despite a worsening exchange rate I found that nothing has really changed, eating on site is still expensive and off site is generally still very reasonable in comparison. Also, I don't know if anyone else who has done a food report has found that, you remember more than just the food just by taking a picture of it, if that makes sense? Like in a few months, I'll look at what I ate at Longhorns for example and remember some other details of the trip... like it triggers other little memories or a conversation we had. Just me? Anyway, I will stop rambling in a minute just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Oli, and my girlfriend was supposed to be coming on this trip along with my parents, and we were going to do some stuff together, some stuff separate but she had something with her work come up a couple of months before so we had a little trip to Prague the 2 of us in July to make up her not being there in Florida. Not that any of that makes a difference to you... it'll just be 3 plates of food instead of 4 So... as I've done before I'll keep it a bit of a surprise where we ate, this is what our itinerary was.. DAY 1
Rhubarb, Heathrow Airport Our travel day was a long one as we were flying from Heathrow at 9.15 to Atlanta, then a 2hr layover then on to Orlando. We had breakfast at a place called Rhubarb in Terminal 3 at Heathrow. Wasn't bad, service was quick at least though a bit on the expensive side. For this report I'll try finding the names and prices so hopefully I can help you out a bit if your planning and budgeting on where to eat... Eggs and Toast £8.25 Mother had this, 2 poached eggs, some toast and baked beans English Breakfast £12.95 Me and my dad went for the full english, I did mainly as I knew I wouldn't be eating much on the plane Not a bad option as the food choices aren't the greatest at terminal 3, and it was a bit quieter than the bar they have, which I've eaten at before for lunch and it actually wasn't bad. |

DAY 1
Virgin plane food I was sitting with my mother, dad was further down the plane as they were the only exit row seats we could get as they are in twos on the Airbus planes. My dad actually ended up sitting next to a dibber (sorry I can't remember your name ) but we had a lovely chat in the horrendous immigration queue at Atlanta Anyway, I forgot to take note of what it was that my mum had but I think it was Teriyaki Chicken (the other options were a creamy mushroom pasta and the other a pulled pork type thing... think it has jalepenos?) I just stuck with this It is water, ahah not anything stronger A bit later on they came round with the usual Fab lollies. And later on we got a mozzarella and pesto wrap which was actually quite nice, though the amount of ingredients that went into just that tiny wrap... filled up the whole of the back of the packet We also got a square of chocolate, some kettle chip style crisps and some mints which were foul apparently The chocolate tasted like the cheap advent calendar kind but the crisps were nice, I didn't care though as we were soon landing I also had an iced tea in Atlanta airport while we were waiting for our connection which was thankfully delayed by about 50 minutes (otherwise we would've been really tight on time) Edited at 10:41 PM. |

DAY 1
Shopping and Subway The times on my pictures tell me that we picked up the car at about 7pm and got to the supermarket about 7.40 (only getting slightly lost this time And this is what our trolley looked like 30 minutes later... By this point it was about 8.30 and Google maps told us there was a Subway nearby so we headed there for dinner. Footlong Tuna Subway $7 (ish) My usual go to at Subway (so predictable ) but went for the foot long as I was starving. Bought some of possibly the creamiest potato salad ever which I had with it as well. I think I'd have eaten more of it though the fact that a third of the pot contained over half my daily saturated fat amount was concerning More to come tomorrow... |
