Never doubt how much money Star Wars fan boys and girls will be willing to pay! Predictions are already putting the Star Wars hotel at £900 for two nights, and you know it’s likely to sell out regardless.

I agree probably only one out of 1000 in the U.K. could afford a Disney holiday every year, or maybe even every two years. Still Disney won’t suffer for it, there are a lot more wealthy people in the world then there were twenty years ago. The divide between is grower bigger and there are less and less medium wealth people in this country.

At the end of the day Disney probably hire some of the best market analysts in the world, they know what they’re doing.

Of course, none of us want to be priced out, but it’s the way everything is going at the moment.

I am one of the few people so genuinely disappointed that GE is opening the day we fly out to Florida this year. Going to HS on a so called quiet day in earlier December was so crowded that we left within 2 hours of arriving. The queues to the ladies toilets were dreadful, and not sure it will even be worth us going there.

I am hoping Disney will put the opening day back🤞

We returned to Florida after an eleven year break last October, although we really enjoyed it I will say the crowd levels were a shock, and the queues for rides meant that riding many of them wasn't something I was prepared to do. Rightly or wrongly I blame the fastpass system for that, which of course favours onsite guests. Would I go back? certainly, but it wouldn't be 'park centric'.

For my family of 5 it is an expensive holiday that we've saved a long time for (we're going in May 2020) The ticket price increase is high I agree but it hasn't been a deciding factor for us going or not, just meant a bit more saving. My last trip was 2009 and I've wanted to return ever since but since meeting my partner in 2010 we've had other things we needed to save for which took priority. I know we'll have an amazing time and I feel lucky to be able to take my kids even once.

It’s all relative, though, isn’t it. £90 for one DAY in a park (obviously a one day ticket is the most expensive way to do it)... but people usually pay £90++ these days for a musical in London that lasts about 2hrs?

Over £1800 for a family of 4 just to get in Disney (tickets + parking). That’s a fair whack!

I think we'll only stay onsite as long as the free DDP continues but we'd still go, and visit the parks. A hotel / villa will be cheaper and we'd just eat offsite more.

Last year was my first time since 1997 so I haven't got anything to compare it with. It was very quiet when I was there last year though - I couldn't find all the crowds I keep reading about on here! This was 13th to 27th September. I'm also going again this year and every year till my health tells me I can't go any more.

With Galaxy’s Edge opening later this year and everyone saying crowds are going to increase significantly, Disney’s bubble is not going to burst any time in the near future. If anything, I expect prices to increase even more in the next couple of years because demand keeps on increasing.

We DIBBers may think it’s too experience. Millions of others disagree.

So, I do believe the quote. And perhaps Walt would be unnerved with that the parks have become (relative to pricing out the average family). Walt's focus was on the fantasy and the childish wonder associated with his fledgling brand; his counterbalance Roy was focused on the books more so.

It was a business from the start, but I don't think any of it would be where it is today (good or bad) if Walt was focused on the financial end of things.

Disney became what it did because of the partnership of the two. I wonder how long the Disney name will carry the weight it has for so long, with the balance, now, tipped so much the one way.

People won't keep visiting forever if the word that spreads is about how the value Disney offers their guests keeps decreasing.

Very fair comment. Just don't read this kind of discussion.

People don't like seeing something they've long loved/enjoyed now losing some of its shine. (How much is subjective. )

It's fascinating how different people's experiences can be. It's great you had such a good time and are looking forward to going again.

I never thought we'd go to Florida without doing Disney but we've booked a villa on the Gulf Coast this year.

We're still in love with Florida!
Hey, TC. Long time no see.

There are lots of lovely Florida holidays to be had. I bet you'll have a fun AND relaxing time on the coast. (Maybe, a highs/low post afterwards to let us know what you loved? ...Hint, hint! )
