Brought To You by The Letters A, J and R and The Number 3 - Day 9 Beach & Ohana
I was up at 7.00, Alex at 8.00. I woke Mone at 8.30 as wanted to head to Cocoa beach. We ate in the room and then stopped off at the resort reception to withdraw some cash and get some drinks. I also grabbed a bundle of towels to take.
The drive is around 1hour and 15 minutes. We arrived at 11.45 and paid for 2 hours parking in one of the little lots by the beach. There was only 1 other car here. We set up and sat, swam, walked along the shore and before we knew it 2 hours had passed. We saw a cheeky little crab who spent an age right near us transporting piles of sand, it was ever so funny to watch! Just before we left a local called Alex over, he’d arrived on a bike and been for a swim in the sea. There was a small fishing boat that came in very close to the shore. He said he was surprised that it hadn’t been moved on as was too close and the bait thrown in attracts fish (obviously) and sharks. He said he’d never been attacked by a shark but had witnessed many and seen plenty of sharks on his 67 years on the island! We packed up the car and got changed after fashioning a dressing room with the car and towels! We had initially wanted to go and find somewhere to eat where they preferably sold crab cakes. Ramona fancied a McDonald’s happy meal! we saw one and so we stopped on the island to eat. We then popped to a Walmart on the island before heading back to the resort. Once back we got ready into fresh swimwear and headed with the laundry to the main pool and swam whilst the clothes washed. Alex was spoken to by the pool police as the pool ball he and Mona were throwing to each other was maybe not a pool ball (it was!) The lifeguard I think felt bad and gave them a very small ball to finish their game! He had a chat with Alex about where we are from. We headed back to put the laundry in the dryers and then went to get ready to eat. Tonight we are going to Ohana, we eat here every year despite having hit and miss service/food. We stayed at the Polynesian resort in 2010 and it’s my all time favourite place! It’s not a meal I would pay out of pocket for as i only eat the shrimp, salad, noodles and vegetables. Ramona eats the same minus the shrimp! I also do like the desert here too. Our reservation was for 8.30pm. The service and food was superb this evening. Ohana We arrived back all exhausted. It was a fantastic day. |
