Day 15 - Back once again like a Floriday Master - Mini Golf/Epcot/Olive Garden

Day 15

Today was an important day – we were finishing our Disney tickets which meant that our ‘Part 2’ would start tomorrow.

Due to the success of the mini golf the other day, we decided that a lie-in followed by golf would be a good start.

It was NOT a good start. We headed over to Fantasia Mini Golf as we had googled and found out that we get a round every day before 4 on the tickets we had bought. When we arrived, we were told that we could have a 25 minute wait for the easier Fantasia themed side or 5 minutes for the harder side.

We chose the shorter wait and started a few minutes later. Well! It really was challenging! There was a family with 2 children ahead of them who chose short over easy and they gave up on hole 7. We had hills, bunkers, sharp corners and a few short tempers. It was a maximum 6 plays at each hole and by hole 12 we realised we had more ‘6s’ than other and so we also hung up our golfing clubs and admitted defeat.

From here we decided that food was in order so, rather than Millers that keeps being bumped backwards, Han had had an email with a BOGOF entrée on a Wednesday at Perkins so we went there.

Not sure what to expect, we were very pleased with our choice. There really is something for everyone!

Josiah went for eggs benedict with hashbrowns and chocolate muffin, Han had a soup and sandwich combo with chicken noodle soup and half a chicken salad croissant (this also came with a slice of dessert pie in the deal), I had a french dip sandwich with fries and Eliana had jumbo fried shrimp with fries and broccoli.

Everything except the muffin was polished off quickly and we asked for desserts to go as we had heard they are amazing – 1 slice of chocolate silk, 1 slice peanut butter silk, 1 slice coconut silk and a pineapple upside down muffin – oh and an extra slice of Lemon Meringue pie came with us (and the chocolate muffin).

A great meal, our server was very attentive, cost us $60.47 with $12.53 tip.

After that we popped to an Avis branch as our car was showing it needed a service – they reassured us that it would be fine until we took it back, so off we went to Walmart, then Target in search of a boogie board for Eliana in the pool. Target had one and that was all we bought from there – I feel we are growing as people being able to walk away from all the American goodies.

We spent a little time in the pool and games room then headed to MK for the evening.

Once we were through bag check we took the monorail over to MK and went straight over to the Peoplemover as we hadn’t done this yet. It was a good 20 minute wait and unfortunately the party ahead of us had forgotten they had children! There were 4 adults, a teen and 4 kids and I don’t think they looked at what the 4 kids were doing through the whole wait. They were under the barriers, trying to drink the rain drops dropping from the building and trees, treading on peoples toes, climbing up poles – it was crazy.

We were on the same Peoplemover train as them but, fortunately, they all stayed seated and quieter on the ride. As we left, one of the kids was messing around and got separated from the rest and ended up behind us on the way down – not one of them noticed! I wonder if they are still together now!

While we were in the area we decided to go on Carousel of Progress, the air con was really appreciated! Josiah took the opportunity when we got off to get a Speciality drink from Cool Ship - a bubbling fruity number that was really good! Eliana got a massive coke too!

After that it was time for our Space Mountain Fastpass. We got in the FP line and there was quite a queue ahead of us. During this queue, Eliana decided she didn’t want to ride it as it had been a bit of an anticlimax after Hyperspace Mountain in Paris so she went back and joined Han at the shop.

Josiah and I enjoyed it and we went to meet the girls to see if Monsters Inc was running – and we were joined by $50 of giant Baymax cuddliness! Eliana wanted him to join her giant Stitch from last time (which sits in her cupboard as he is so huge). Packing him will certainly be fun!

Unfortunately Monsters Inc was down so we headed to get a return time for Aladdin’s Carpets before our next Fastpass at Splash Mountain.
When we got to Splash, the fastpass line was looong and Han had heard someone saying that they are starting to give out too many fastpasses which does seem like it could be true. It was certainly packed. We waited 10 minutes from joining the FP queue to actually scanning in. The queue did move quickly and I felt sorry for the people waiting on the Standby queue who had a 170 minute wait.

At least the ride is a long one and very good fun. We were through very quickly but you could certainly hear grumblings in the stand by queue as they had to keep letting FP people through to stop that one getting any bigger outside of the ride. All of the rides seemed very busy at MK today and there were a lot of people hanging around… I think that you notice higher crowd levels here a lot more than the other parks? Epcot seemed pretty quiet, even when it was busy as it is a lot more spaced out and has a lot more open space.

We decided to not watch the fireworks which were starting soon as we had seen them from Cali Grill and headed instead to Aladdin’s Carpets. This is a good ride but not too long, although it had another large standby queue. Josiah & Eliana were in the front with Han and I in the back so we were up and down lots and they kept trying to get us in the path of the camel’s spray (but missed every time).

It was time for our final snacks and ones we had been saving for our last evening. Turkey Leg and Dole Whip. We all had a bit of the Turkey Leg, but Josiah finished it off while mainly Han and Josiah had the Dole Whip. Very tasty!

Once we had done this, Han went over to get a return time for 7 Dwarves to have as our very last ride as the rest of us went over and did our final FP for Big Thunder Mountain. We timed it just right and as we got on the ride and did the first climb there were the fireworks starting just as we left the indoor section. We loved this so much in the dark.

This meant that we (well, some of us) had completed all three mountains in one day! I can safely say that Josiah & I did the 3 peaks in less than only a few hours.

Han was waiting for us in the Rapunzel’s Lantern queue as she really wanted to do this having seen it on the Dibb. When we got there, there was only 3 people ahead of us so we did it quite quickly and Han is happy with how the pictures came out.

Knowing that we had to be on 7 Dwarves by 10pm, we popped in to see Mickey’s Philharmagic so Han could get the full experience (after being at the front last time) and we bagged a back seat. It was much better than last time and we are glad we went back.

Heading over to 7 Dwarves as it was now 9.55pm we realised it was now down. We were gutted as we wanted that to be our last MK ride, but we quickly got in the queue for Prince Charming’s Carousel and had that as our final ride.

We then headed towards the front of the park, looking at all the lighting effects which are done so well.

As we were getting ready to go we felt happy that we had had such a good time at Disney, but a bit sad to have missed Monsters Inc and Jungle Cruise and decided that in hindsight we should have gone back in earlier.

Leaving the park at 10pm was crazy busy and we were all tired and aching. Once we escaped via the monorail we drove home and the kids crashed in their beds, ready for our busy day tomorrow.

As we chilled, Han got a notification that the DAS pass for 7 Dwarves had changed to allow usage on anything. When she went onto the MDE app it looked like we could get into the park again tomorrow and also book Fastpasses! A few clicks later and we had FP’s booked for tomorrow evening for Monsters Inc, Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise. We’ll also see if we can get a return time for 7 Dwarves. It means our already busy day will be a massive full on day…oh well…hope the magic bands let us in. 14 days definitely takes us up to today so hope it works!

Tomorrow - Busch Gardens, Millers and a kind of surprise (MK return) for the kids.

If you can don’t miss watching the fireworks from in front of the castle it really is something else with the projections!

Shame about the golf but you did much better then we would have done
