Solo trip 2019 - day five - HS, Epcot and the Swan and Boardwalk
Still confused timewise obviously - woke up at 05:30 yet again! Not much planned for today so had a few cups of tea and a packet of crisps ( that's all I've got in my room!) and decided to go for a swim for the first time in 4 years - since I was last here, actually. Swimming pools in the UK are so cold and have so much chlorine in plus of course they're not always available when you actually want to swim so I just don't bother.
Jamaica Block pool was closed for refurbishment but it's only a short walk to Aruba pool. Needless to say one width of the pool exhausted me I'm so out of practice! I spent about 40 minutes alternately paddling, floating and swimming when I got my breath back and really enjoyed it. After my swim a lazy get-ready and went to HS to meet Ellie for Slinky Dog Dash. That's a fun ride but too short. I think a lot of the newer rides are shorter, probably to get a faster turn-around of people but then hardly seem worth waiting in a line for. We strolled around Galaxy's Edge for a while after being amused by the scenery and the characters and then Ellie went back to her family and I thought - I've only had a packet of crisps for breakfast I' starving so I decided to go to epcot and do some Eat around the world. My photo report for that is here www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1147076 Absolutely stuffed I needed to rest for a bit so went over to the Swan where the Java Coffee Shop is really nice, civilised and quiet after the hurly burly of Epcot. I sat in a comfy chair to rest my aching legs and had a really nice cup of green tea. Snack foods/salads/ sandwiches here look nice as well and cheaper than in Disney - worth a walk over if you're in that part of Epcot and want a little peace. Also very, very hot today so nice to be in the aircon. 5pm now so had a look round the Boardwalk. Got some cheese and sliced meat and bread from the store there so I can have a bit more to eat if I'm up early! The nice lady asked me if I was a passholder or DVC resident and I said "no" but she gave me the discount anyway Yet another early night of course cos I was up so early. Nice to be able to completely make up my own mind about that and not feel guilty that I'm reducing some other person's enjoyment that might have wanted to go out in the evening. Edited at 03:51 PM. |
