We used some our left over virgin air miles towards a hotel only booking with Virgin Holidays.

I might be tempted to if VA keep these dodgy practices up.

It will be interesting to see if they waive the normal £30pp admin fee for folks who have an outbound but cant book inbound and need to cancel.

Are ba flights a lot easier to get in summer school hols? We have a lot of Tesco Clubcard vouchers so wondering if it would be better to transfer to avios rather than virgin. But ba is lgw to Tampa route? Thanks

Google rewardflightfinder.com you can check all airports, their are currently still economy and club flights available in August.

The key to BA is release is entirely predictable. At midnight of 355 days they release at least 2 club and 4 economy seats on every flight. If you are willing to be up at midnight and you are quick to book you will get the flights.

I currently have club flights to Seattle, Tampa and Montreal booked for the coming year on the dates I want because I have followed the formula.

No, VA altered their programmes about a month ago and seem to be pleased that reward finder cannot access then any more!

Thanks everyone for advice. I've decided to go ahead and book something rather then not get a flight so I've book ORL-LAX then LAX to LHR using miles. We will need to get to gatwick to pick up car but at least we've found a way of using miles.

Wow, you are flying all the way across the US to fly back again, well if it works for you well done.

Where I've done an "out of LGW, back into LHR" trip when flying into Orlando and back from Miami, I've dropped the family off at a Gatwick hotel, driven to Heathrow, parked the car and got the National Express coach back to Gatwick.

It's a lot nicer having the car to hand when you arrive back in the UK, rather than everyone having to schlep down to Gatwick before you can properly start heading for home.

Thanks I'll think about doing this.
