What, no Disney?! LIVE August 2019 COMPLETE

Hi! I’m a long time trip report addict, first time writer. We have a lot more downtime planned in to this holiday so I thought I might be able to do it as we go along as I know I’ll never do it once we’re back!

So, a brief introduction to us and our holiday...

I’m Vicky, I’m 39 and I’m a Disney addict. This will my 12th trip to the sunshine state. My favourite thing on holiday is EVERYTHING.

Dh is 48, this will be his 15th trip. His favourite part of the holiday is ALL THE FOOD.

DS1 is 7. This will be his 7th trip. His favourite part of the holiday is having unlimited iPad time on the plane 🙄

Ds2 is 4 and this will be his 5th trip! He loves rides and rollercoasters and swimming and also iPad time on the plane 😂 It’s a shame he’s not the taller older one as he will go on almost anything whereas ds1 is a bit nervous of rides.

We weren’t going to go at all this year as we’re having an extension built and weren’t sure where we would be at with that. Then we decided we would be in a position to go away in the summer holidays after all. Dh was adamant however that we would be going somewhere that wasn’t Florida, and we would just be looking for a last minute bargain somewhere else. However despite some looking he failed to send me a single other option and then started moaning that all the bargains seemed to be in Florida... what were we supposed to do!

We’re doing something a bit different though. Normally we go for 3 weeks, book diy, fly virgin from Gatwick, mainly do Disney and just a couple of days at universal, and stay in a villa. As we were going so last minute (booked 2 weeks before!) we went via Thomas Cook. Booked 2 weeks in cabana bay, flying from Manchester and only doing Universal. We also have no car and will just be using Uber/Lyft.

It feels very strange as I’m normally all over the planning, and with no Disney that means no booking meals, no fast passes, no real itinerary at all! All I did was put together a couple of lists of things we’d like to do and places we’d like to eat. We agreed this would be a much more relaxed holiday than usual and we would just make use of our early entry, spend mornings in the parks and then chill in the afternoon and head out for dinner most days.

Having said no Disney, I couldn’t resist booking a cheeky brunch at chef mickeys. We will also spend time at Disney springs. It was also pointed out to me that the first MNSSHP is the Friday before we leave... still trying to persuade dh on to that though!

I’m currently chilling by the pool at CB so here we go...
