May need to cancel

1 week to go and we might need to cancel our trip😟. My mum has just been admitted to hospital with a bowel obstruction, we are waiting to see if she will be suitable for surgery or not. She has dementia but is very active, just have to wait and see.
She still really wants us to go but I really don’t think I would be able to unless I knew she was going to be okay. It’s so horrible😢

So sorry to hear about your mum, hope they sort her out quickly. Would be a good idea to get in touch with your insurance & explain the situation & see what they say. Could you perhaps go at a later date rather than cancel?

Thanks, I will give them a phone tomorrow and see what the options are. I’m probably just not thinking straight at the moment.

Thank you, I’m just going to have a few minutes sleep and then phone the insurance company to warn them although we maybe able to go now. I’ll have to wait and see!
Last night I really thought that was it for my mum! She has dementia and manages not too badly but I’ve found out that my auntie (who is one of the POA) has listed my mum for a care home! That on top of her dementia almost stopped the surgeons from taking action! The fact she had 2 of the best general medical consultants in the hospital and she walks over a mile every morning made them change their minds and take her for surgery. She looks a lot brighter this morning so fingers crossed she will be okay.
She is still saying we should go on holiday. I’m not sure and will still need to contact insurance company, I’m not sure if it’s covered if we go and then something happened while we are away, I suspect not!

Sorry to hear about your Mum. Hope she is recovering well. As for the holiday have the doctors say she is fit enough to fly? and if so you will need to inform medical insurance. Personally i would cancel the holiday until she id well enough to travel. All the best.
