Driving and servces
Hi all,
We plan to drive to Calais on our next trip to DLP in October. Was wondering what services people tend to stop at on the way down? Also are there many tolls?

Have a look on ViaMichelin. There are 2 main routes towards Paris, A1 or A16, the A1 route is slightly shorter.
Tolls are around €18 each way, I cant remember if you pay each one seperatly or take a ticket on entry to the toll and pay at the exit. On the via michelin site you can customise it to show miles rather than the default kms and if there's a yellow ! saying dangerous road it means a speed camera. Services, like here, are expensive but probably nicer than over here and the frequent rest stops "Aire de xxx" offer facilities such as toilets and picnic tables some even have a play area, swings and stuff much better than our lay-bys. |

The route from Calais to Disney is as above and costs €22.50 each way. This is one payment.
The services are like here really, with the added aire de as mentioned which are just toilet and picnic areas. Some of those were closed on our recent trip last month.

We just pick a stop when we need a break - there are so many of the little picnic area & toilet aires, that you’re never far from the next one. We always have a pack up with us, so have only stopped at one proper services, but I think they’re all pretty much of a muchness.
