L.A.S Vegas four times - Day 6 - Flamingo buffet, Venetian, Sigfried and Roy, Love and last pizza
There is something about the last full day of a holiday. That horrible feeling of "we've not done this, that and the other and trying to prioritise the last hours whilst extremely tired and possibly a little irritable!
Being away with another couple is sometimes a bit tricky as you spend more time waiting or deciding things than you do as a couple. Messages went back and forth and plans were changed a couple of times. Today I had woken up looking forward to a day with Tom as we all had different things we wanted to do however this plan quickly changed. I did really enjoy having another couple with us but sometimes a bit of quality time is nice. This crops up later in the day... So plans eventually decided we headed to the Flamingo for a buffet brunch which we'd bought on groupon. Me and Tom have been here before and always enjoyed it however I have to say this trip it was "ok" - nothing special however so cheap so wouldnt complain! The service wasn't as good as usual and we were kept waiting ages for our "bottomless minosas" of which we had 2 each and mainly ice! Food wise they had a good selection - bacon, egg, waffles etc, salad bar, nacho bar, Mexican station, chinese selection, meats and breads etc. Desserts were the best bit which was nice given my extreme lack of sweet foods this week - what is wrong with me? ! I have to admit I have no idea whats been wrong with my body this week - my stomach has been urgently expressing its opinion everytime I've eaten! So once that charming detail was out of the way there had been another plan change. Originally Tom and I were walking up to the Venetian to wander and pick up a groupon cocktail from Tacos n Ritas followed by Sigfried and Roys secret garden whilst the others were going shopping to Planet Hollywood Miracle mile and meeting us later. Whilst I was in the toilet the plan changed to us all going to Venetian and they would leave us to shop after. We set off and ended up stopping at harrahs piano bar as Big Elvis was on so always worth a stop! He is so good and always a nice atmosphere in there too. We wandered to the Venetian and grabbed a strawberry and mango frozen cocktail from tacos n ritas - these seemed pretty strong and they were very cold (duh!). Tom got brain freeze which was funny and they didn't half take some sucking to get the juice out the straw (ooh er!). We left the Venetian and had a funny moment where Liv just couldn't seem to work out where we were and was convinced we were in the wrong place. We said our temporary goodbyes pointing them in the direction they needed to walk to get to Planet Hollywood. Tom and I crossed the road to head to the Mirage for one of my favourite things in Vegas - Sigfried and Roys secret garden. So here is where we has the obligatory irritable moment of the holiday. I mentioned that I was a bit disappointed as I'd been looking forward to a date day together. This got taken completely the wrong way to be me having a strop about being with his friends. I tried to explain but heat and exhaustion got the better of us so we ended up going and sitting at a machine in silence for 5 (ok 10)- partly to give my feet a rest and partly out of a grump. You may wonder why I've left this tiny tiff in but I wanted it to be real and reflect the tiredness getting the better of us and also wanted to point out the difficulty of going somewhere you normally go as a couple as a couple of couples. As above I have really enjoyed the different view of Vegas as a 4 and having a gal pal too but wanted to mention date time being important. I think we did really well and all got on a lot better than I thought also. Strops sorted we now headed to the sign posted, well known secret garden (shhh). I absolutely love it here. If you go please take time to speak to the staff - they are so passionate and knowledgeable and if they don't know the answer they will find it out. One girl explained that all the animals are rotated and have a big play facility they have daily time at where the keepers mentally stimulate them and they have private areas etc which is always nice to know as I love zoos but I do want well treated animals to gorp at! There was a baby dolphin called Carly who was 8 months old so when we visited last year her mum would have been pregnant with her. This was a fact I found super cute! Also fact fans do you know dolphins are born fin first and are about 2 to 3 feet long? They don't do "shows" here with the dolphins however they do have regular play times where the dolphins do a few tricks and you can see them being fed. Someone had left their phone on the table by the snack bar so we handed it in - bumped into the owner after who thanked us. First good deed of the day done! Its not a huge place to visit but we always end up spending a couple of hours or so there just watching them. Its always different with it being animals. Yesterday we saw the 2 sister white tigers chasing each other and playing and being really silly. Another time we saw a tiger playing with a huge ball in the water. We left just before closing and headed off to meet the others for the last show of the holiday - Beatles Love. Tom and I have seen this before on our 2nd trip but the others really wanted to see it so we thought why not as we really loved love! We had similar height seats to last time but with a different view of the stage which was nice as there were lots of bits we hadn't seen or that looked completely different seen from a different angle. I would very much like to point out if you are long legged or pooh shaped (or like me both! ) I would recommend an aisle seat. Luckily Neil kindly switched with me before the show started as I dont think I would have been able to enjoy with cupholders in my hips and a bar in my shins! Neil and Tom are similar height to me but without the ass mass which of course pushes you forward in a seat and they were fine so just a tip if tall and bootylicuous. The show itself is incredible. There is not a bad seat in the house as the theatre is in the round and so much happens everywhere on stage. It is very much a show I'd recommend seeing especially if unsure whether you'll like cirque. The stage is so clever and the projections make it feel like you are being transported with the performers. Lucy in the sky and Yesterday are stunningly beautiful and so much of the show is filled with energy. You can't help but love it. Once we left here we popped to the record gift shop display place thing - professional! You know the places with the signed records and merch with no photos allowed and ridiculous price tags? Quick stop at the gift shop for yet another Vegas wine glass (I've an actual problem I'm sure! ) and on to leave the Mirage. Liv had been suffering with hayfever or sinuses today and as soon as we went outside felt terrible. The plan was to go see a couple of fountain shows as we hadnt seen many this trip so we headed in that general direction. We stopped at the little bar outside of Caesars for a ridiculously priced drink to take with us - a very artificial filled blue glacier berry vodka slushy for me and a beer for Tom with an extreme price tag of about $30ish - ouch. We headed to the Bellagio over the walkway and caught the very end of a lady gaga show so waited for the next one which Tom somehow correctly guessed would be Uptown funk! I wanted to see one more show so we wandered in to cash out vouchers and needed back out to the fountains. Now was the other couples time for a bit of a fraught moment with feeling tired and poorly. We said we'd watch one more show and catch them shortly to go to hard rock for dinner. At the fountains there was a couple who asked how long until the next ahow and got chatting to us. They told us they were on their honeymoon and from Warrington which isn't too far from us. The girl sometimes works shifts at the vets just up the road from my house - small world! We gave them our unused senor frogs vouchers as we knew we'd not have time to get them and then arranged to meet the others. It was clear upon meeting that the night was over for them. Liv was feeling just too poorly which was a shame with it being our last night so we said our goodbyes to them for the evening. We then had a bit of a "what now?" moment to decide the change of plan. My feet started throbbing during this sit down - as soon as I stepped walking they were so painful. I knew I wouldnt make it to Hard Rock on foot and it wasn't far enough for an uber. Those who have read other days may see where this is heading...SECRET PIZZAAAAAA! I cannot describe our love of this place however given in 7 days 3 of our meals were there it certainly gives an idea! Tom kindly went to queue knowing exactly what I wanted (white pizza obvs) whilst i sat down in the seating area and took my socks and shoes off. Appetising for those around I'm sure but it definitely helped! Amazing delish pizza consumed and we were ready to gamble. First stop was the iron man machine as we hadnt seen this elsewhere this trip. Would you believe we found another mobile phone! There was an email address on the home screen so I sent a quick email to tell them I'd handed their phone in at Cosmo and the name of the employee. Spoiler alert they emailed back at 3.30am to thank me and tell me they'd retrieved it. Back to iron man - $20 in between us (last of the high rollers hey!) and we gave up after nearly losing it and getting back to around $15. Moved on to willy wonka and had a bit more luck here and turned our $15 into $60 and 2 free cosmopolitan cocktails. A local was sat at the next machine who was lovely and was fun watching her bonuses too. Onward for a flutter on sex and the city machine which is definitely my fave machine by far. Its a shame so many other casinos have got rid of it. We then left the Cosmo as we were both flagging and wanted to get back nearer the hotel. Over the road to Paris to copy our trip from last year where we sat near Le Cabaret and watched a bit of live music there. Realistically we were both too tired for this but wanted to extend our last night. We gave up and went to Ballys to our room to finish the packing and tidying before going to sleep in that super comfy bed one last time. |

My husband's a guitarist, so when in Vegas it's a must do. When the screens drop and the first chord of Get Back plays... perfect, spine tingling opening!

Thanks for sharing, I’ve loved your trippie.
I’ve been Vegas a few times now, and I’m going back this year, but your tips are invaluable (hopefully I’ll manage to flipping find secret pizza this time!) Incidentally I’m not far from Warrington either (Widnes in fact) are you nearby? I didn’t think there were any close dibbers xx
