Ive gone every year since 1996 in Sept and never actually been present for a hurricane, just missed matthew and irma. I will continue to travel at this time as I love the food and wine festival and generally the weathers nicer.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment up to a point, words such as "bleat" and "madness" aren't helpful in my opinion.

Many people, especially those traveling for the first time, want accurate information and support not finger-wagging.

Exactly. Last 3 years have demonstrated the risk

I'm naturally risk averse, for good or bad I don't know.
That's why I booked our hol in Nov because of the hurricane season.

I’d love to go a different month but unfortunately for some people it’s not a possibility. I work in Education so can only go in school holidays. My choice I know. I’ve been twice in August with not even a sniff of a hurricane warning. Problems of one sort or another can happen at any time of the year. You’re lucky that you can choose when you go.

Hurricane season is june to november, everyone has their own reason for choosing when to go. Im sure it wasnt meant to, but a comment like that is pretty insensitive. People have spent thousands on their trips and to hear someone pretty much swy its your own fault doesnt help.
