Thanks very much it would appear that people are mainly getting 4G now.

The 4g on 3 whilst roaming is terrible I’d recommend getting a prepaid sim from t-mobile once you’re in America.

Just got back and used my EE data all the time. As you can imagine, we spend more time away from the tourist areas and my coverage was good, but not always 4G. A few dead-spots, but in general it was there when I needed it.

Regards

Gary

I have searched and read loads about the data but still confused. I am with Tesco and pay monthly, husband is with O2 and pays monthly. When I have checked with them they are quoting £5.00 a day for very little data.

Ideally I want to be able to buy a sim that will allow me to get 4G data, I don't need to ring home as the villa has wifi. But I will need data for sat nav, social medial, whatsapp etc.

Is 3 really the best option.. I am loath to use them again due to last time and really poor customer service.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Hi, I am on O2 pay monthly and have the O2 Travel Inclusive Zone bolt on. It is free and covers USA and there is no charge for using data etc. I used it recently in New York and it was fab. This is the blurb from O2 (not sure if you DH falls into these categories). I added it through my O2 app.

'Going outside of Europe? Good news. With our O2 Travel Inclusive Zone Bolt On, available on selected O2 Refresh and sim only tariffs, you can get inclusive data roaming in 27 international destinations. And if you’re going beyond our Inclusive Zone you can still subscribe to our full O2 Travel Bolt On for £4.99 a day in selected destinations.

You’ll get a daily allowance of 120 minutes and 120 texts, and data, when you roam in our O2 Travel Inclusive Zone. There’s no cap on data, but we’ll manage traffic and may need to slow down speeds depending on usage'

I’m on 3 and had 4G a the time we were in Orlando in August, didn’t do the Disney parks but had no issues in Universal. The only time I had any issues with the speed was whilst at the Florida mall, so I just used some stores free WiFi as and when needed.

We returned yesterday, used the 3 SIM card and had 4g data for 95% of the time when WiFi wasn’t available, I was slightly concerned after reading about poor coverage but it was brilliant around Disney/Walmart/shopping etc and I would use it again in a heartbeat.

I used 3 and free Wi-fi. I didn’t spent any time checking if i was on 3G or 4g but had acceptable service whenever I needed it.

I think in the past three used to restrict your data use to 3G. Good to hear people are getting 4G now though. We used a 3 PAYG sim in California last year and it was fine.
