travel insurance with failure add ons

Just looking at travel insurance before i book flights.

The standard response i get back from Money Supermarket doesn't have many filters applied.

I go into filters and click "Airline Failure" and "Supplier Failure" and then the results end up with 4 suppliers starting at £154 and going up to £226

Are these filters a little miss leading or are people going on holiday without airline or supplier failure etc...

What are you lot buying and do you know it covers those failures.?

I have travel insurance through my bank. I have the Halifax ultimate reward account and it does cover airline failure.

Does it cover things like airline failure?

i've never looked before and when things go wrong news just says contact your insurance company. We all assume we are insured.

ive not heard anything in the news lately about insurance not paying out because they didnt have the right level of cover.

In the end what with medical declarations as well I decided it was better to get a packaged “annual policy” with my bank (First Direct) I’ve read the small print it seems about as comprehensive as it can get. It’s £180 a year (£15 a month) but meant I could give up my breakdown insurance which put it on a par with most annual policies but with (I think) better cover around things like supplier/airline failure

It's a subject worth bringing up as a lot of policies do not include airline or end user failure as standard so if you just use a comparison site and pick the cheapest then chances are that you won't be covered.

It usually costs extra for the better cover but when you look at the cost of a holiday and especially if you are usually a DIYer (like us) then it's something you 100% should factor in.

I booked TC flights for next August and there were talks of them being in trouble then. I rang Halifax and they confirmed that the insurance covers airline supplier failure.
