We’ve been to see it today. I think I’m in the minority here as I thought it was far too cheesy and over sentimental. The story and effects were good but in my opinion, it’s not as good as it’s predecessors. I’m not a Star Wars fan as such, but I have seen all the films and I found this one to be a bit meh.

i nodded off multiple times during watching it yesterday afternoon. i'm sure it was find for fanboys who wanted all the loose ends tying up, but for me it was too long, too talky, and even the action sequences weren't particularly impressive.

a solid 5/10 at best.

6 underground on the other hand. wow! go watch that instead, its infinitely more fun!

oh yeah, what was the gold chocolate bar the weird old lady gave chewy at the end?

It was their version of a Kinder Surprise!

Another loose end. There was controversy that Chewy wasn't given a medal at the end of the first shown episode, he was there every step of the way and whilst Hans and Luke got medals he didn't.

I went to see it yesterday. I really liked it, much better than the second one in this trilogy. The bit I found cringey was the Ben / Rey kiss.

Went on the release night (7.00) 15 minutes in and the projector was turned off- I thought something was wrong when Kylo Ren had a green light saber at the beginning. They said they would restart from the last add - then nothing stopped again. It had been 30 mins wait by this time.
The staff came round and gave us free tickets for any film in the next 12 months - that was nice.
By the time they tried a 3rd time - half of the people had left and it was an emptier cinema.

So finally I watched it and loved it cheese and all.

So good I have seen it 3 times (including IMAX 3d) and hope to go again soon with my limitless card.

Just back from the cinema. Managed to avoid all spoilers and just wow. The omg, oh wow, the what , oh that makes sense, Billy Dee flying the Falcon, the Ben Solo redemption, and that ending, back on Tattooine , full circle.

I just can't wait to return to Batuu in the summer, seeing the chess game and the Falcon going into light speed gave me goose bumps.

We loved it. I guess it was a bit cheesy, but no complaints at all from us.

I've seen it twice now, first time normal screen 3d, second time Imax - i honestly loved it more the second time. It's not perfect but I really enjoyed it. My only wish was that Rose had more of a part to play in this film, her character was built up so much and then faded into almost nothing.

I’m very late to the party. I watched it on Now TV and it was quite good, but not 42 years epic series good. I saw the first film on release in London and that was wow!
I thought this one was a bit meh. I too wanted to see more of Rose and I thought the banter between the boys came off a bit false. Some of it was strange - I thought “excellent General Hux is an agent for the resistance”, but then it was just because he didn’t like Kylo Ren! I agree there was a lot of stuff in it which to me didn’t make sense, but may be covered in other stories and comics outside of the films. To me that’s not fair to the film viewer. I remember reading Splinter of the Minds Eye, a book written after a New Hope and Luke was still talking about how much he fancied Leia! I guess that’s not part of the authorised canon!

Contrary to a lot of people I did enjoy Episode 8 and was looking forward to the conclusion of the epic. So what do I know?
I may give it another go and see if it improves for me.
With this timely review done, I’ll be reviewing an LP by a new band called the Beatles next week.
