Changes to ECV/wheelchair collection at WDW

Info for anyone who may be interested.

Just read over on Touring Plans that with affect from October 1st. If you have a 3rd party rental from one of the approved vendors that deliver and collect an ECV/wheelchairs/strollers from WDW resort bell services, you will no longer be able to do so.

You have to personally accept delivery and collection. Bit of a shame as we've used it a few times and it's saved a lot of hassle.

No idea why but there seems to be a slight question over delivery of groceries to bell services. So maybe a change of policy what they can handle? Described as an "ever evolving situation"

Hope this helps someone in their planning.

Sad I hear this as we like being able to pick up from bell services. I’ve used a company before where we had to be there for delivery and collection and there were a few hiccups so avoided after this.

Such a shame! I’ve ordered a wheelchair for November to be delivered/picked up from AKL.
Someone on another forum has said it should be ok as it was booked before 1st October.
Also recommended getting in touch with wheelchair provider to check it out.
I just wonder if you arrange to meet provider to sign for it - what happens if plane is delayed etc?

It certainly would. Not sure it's a case of being banned though. I think it's just a case of taking WDW bell services out of the equation.

I should imagine (don't quote me) that access to WDW would be unaffected for approved vendors? Last time we stayed at Boardwalk BuenaVista Scooters had a rental place right outside Boardwalk Villas.

When we were at Boardwalk this summer. Buena Vista were dropping off truck loads of scooters each day. I didn’t know they had a place there but they were certainly right near bell services on a daily basis.

From Buena vista:
CHANGES TO THE DISNEY PROCESS:

As many of you may have heard, through the rumor mill, there have been some developments, over the past few days, regarding the “preferred provider” program @ Walt Disney world.

We can confirm that the rumors are in fact correct.

Disney HAS eliminated the preferred provider program, which means Buena Vista will eventually be converting to a “meet and Greet” operation.

However, ALL reservations that are placed prior to October 1st will be grandfathered in and will not be effected by these changes.
If you are in need of a rental and DO NOT want to be affected, it is very important that you book before 10/1, regardless of when your rental is set to begin.
If you would like to receive a 20% discount on a future rental you can take advantage of this by booking online, as well prior to 10/1.
It is VERY important for us to share a few things with you all.
First, it is VERY necessary to thank each and EVERY one of our loyal guests.
From our repeat guests all the way to our one time renters.
It is because of all of you that we have had continued success over the years and have been able to grow this business from a small family owned, four scooter operation, working out of a shed, to the LARGEST mobility fleet in state, operating out of more than 20,000 square feet of warehouse and office space.

Thank you. All of you.

Second, Buena Vista Rentals is NOT going anywhere.
We have commitments;
to every one of our 45 member team.
to every affiliate we are partnered with
to every travel agent we have been so very lucky to work with
To our new 20,000 square foot space we all call home and,
MOST IMPORTANT
A commitment to every guest that WE have been and will continue to be lucky enough to assist with their mobility needs.

We plan to honor each and every commitment And are fully dedicated to creating a process, based on these changes, that will continue to offer our guests what we pride ourselves in.
Superior, quality, equipment
Absolute unmatched customer service and a dedication to you all and our partners that will continue to keep Buena Vista Rentals the best in this business.

I think this is fair. How much resource from Bell Services and space is being taken up by these rentals.

Not to mention the safety and liability issues of it all. If you want something you should handle it.

Last August we had a split stay at Beach Club and Portofino. It was a WDW & Universal approved vendor we hired an ECV from but for the life of me I can’t remember which without looking it up.

Oddly, They had to treat it as 2 separate rentals as they couldn’t drop of at one and collect from another location. So they collected from BC bell services and dropped off at PBH.
