The internet said it needs days to defrost and I really was worried about a frozen middle on Christmas day!

I'm sure it will be fine. Good job you checked to get it right ref defrosting.

If it had been left to me I would have thought maybe late Monday and it would have been still frozen

Maybe I will stick to the car hire and construction posts

Thanks for the reply but this was kind of what I was hoping to avoid. I love a good turkey and have managed to get it spot on every year. Beautifully moist. If I can do it with this frozen, Tesco bird it will be a miracle lol
I think I will do extra gravy just in case

Lol me too but the thought of taking something frozen out and leaving it for 4 days in a fridge makes me feel 🤮

I will stick with fresh and like you I only like the white meat & the rest goes in the bin

In the bin? Is this some kind of a wind up? Surely you don't, that's just awful?

Why is it a wind up ? We didn’t eat the brown meat as we don’t like it - you may find it awful but your reaction to my post is OTT

We used to bin it as well.

Boxing day was 'strip the bird down'. All the dark meat slung and the bottom part of the bird where it had been sat in the cooking dish.

All wrapped up in a plastic bag and slung

Now beef is far better value for us as it all gets eaten.

Edit. I will say though we all liked the white meat.

i had a frozen one last year - much cheaper and lovely.
When you first put it in the oven put it in upside down as this keeps it moist and stops it drying out.
Carefully - very carefully - turn it over for the last hour.

but there are ways to buy just the meat you do like and not waste so much food.

We buy a crown, does our family Christmas day and turkey/leek/ham pie a couple of days later. No waste at all.

I make this with the brown meat for Boxing Day, it tastes a bit like crispy duck and nice to have something light.
