Tampa for a few days

Hi all
We are thinking of spending a few days in Tampa this August. The river walk and downtown looks like a nice area to stay. Has any one any advice about Tampa?.

Tampa like most UK and US citiesdoes has many areas of under priverlidge, be careful where you stay. I think I would stay on the beach and travel the 30 minutes along the very beautiful causeway bridges into downtown for the day.

Having been very close to being shot in a dodgy area of Philadelphia just be aware.

We bought a Tampa CityPASS which gave us entry to various places including Busch Gardens, Lowry Zoo and a couple of aquariums, also went to Ybor City and St Petersburg which has baseball, soccer plus loads of museums etc. Stayed at the coast near Clearwater which was only a short drive away.

We are staying in the Brandon area for 7 nights this year, specifically at the Homewood suites.

We've never stayed in the Tampa area before so I'm also keen to hear thoughts about this location. The hotel itself gets great reviews and it's not exactly cheap...no Tampa hotel is cheap for that matter. But I can't say I know what the Brandon area is like.

It's close to Busch Gardens and a number of the Tampa attractions. Might be an option for you.
