When you fly home the day your ship docks
Usually cruises tend to get slotted into the middle of a Florida holiday so the early disembarkation isn't an issue but we did a quick week away so had flights booked home at 7.15pm . Our cruise was due to have all passengers cleared by 9.30am at latest so what to do with the day with luggage.
We looked at several options MIA has charagable left luggage facilities, a few tours will store your luggage whilst on the tour but we knew we'd be in total relaxed mode and it all sounded like hard work so we looked at booking a day room through one of the day use sites. We knew we wanted Beach, pool and somewhere not too expensive to eat on site. South Beach was coming out expensive so we looked north and found a small beachside hotel half an hour from both the port and airport. $100 got us a huge room with fridge and even table and chairs , nice terrace , pool and steps beyond the pool direct access to the beach (beach loungers included in resort fee) . Publix opposite and eating places both onsite and walking distance .we used Lyft both ways and it was the perfect finish to our trip. (Hotel was Wyndham Thunderbird) Edited at 01:04 PM. |

Looks like a great option. Did you get a taxi there?

If I’d have been concentrating when I read your post I’d have seen that you said that!😳
When we fly home after disembarking at Port Everglades, we rent a car and go out to Sawgrass Mall to stay cool for a couple of hours then have a leisurely lunch at Bahama Breeze or California Pizza Kitchen and then drive to MIA or FLL. Edited at 09:38 PM. |

Sounds good, I'll be disembarking my Carnival cruise in Miami at about 08:30 and flying home at 17:05 from MIA. Was just going to kill time at Bayside Marketplace but will have a look at this, thanks.

Last cruise we took with Princess and disembarked in Fort Lauderdale we did one of their disembarkation cruises which was a tour of Miami and a couple of hours on South Beach. Our cases stayed on the coach and after South Beach went toured to Coral Gables via Coconut Grove and then direct to the airport. Felt we had not just spent the day going to the airport but had ‘had an outing’ without the hassle of lugging cases around.

Thanks for the tip, looking for a hotel for 2 nights before our cruise and this might be an option.
How much did it cost from the post to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport ?
