Disney power banks charge?

I am sure I saw a post on the internet about Disney charging a fee for changing one of the $30 dollar power banks in the parks.
We purchased one on a previous trip and I wanted to check the details but now can’t find the post.
Does anyone know whether this is happening and if so when it will start. We go next month

OP. I have Googled every possible permutation ref bringing in a charge (no pun intended) to swap these out and can't find anything sorry.

I think they would be on very thin ice if they did as people bought them on the understanding that they could be swapped freely at no cost.

I use an Anker version and am so pleased with it.

I also saw rumours of a charge being introduced but not sure if it was on here or on a vlog.

Have just found this article ...

at the moment these are free and there has not been any official announcement about charging for this so fingers crossed stays that way for a while.

The Fuel Rod standard charge is $20 at other outlets, so Disney are already charging a $10 premium for purchasing at their locations.
My advice would be to purchase Fuel Rod at the airport.

It was also mentioned (albeit without any evidence to back it up) in this DIBB thread:

https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1137941

I'm sure I've seen it mentioned elsewhere on the DIBB too.

Apparently, other places already charge a fee to swap the FuelRods. The Disney parks are one of the few places that don't charge a fee for this at the moment. It's a pity because that was the main advantage of these FuelRods; you can swap them as many times as you want for nothing, meaning each FuelRod effectively had a near-infinite capacity.

Since my Wife got a new phone and the battery is excellent compared to her last phone I rarely use our Anker power bank. I do still have it in my back pocket though.

I could get 3 or 4 days out of it so to me the circa £20 spend was far better than getting a Disney one. I used to charge it when needed overnight.
