We (I say we - it was my husband’s thing!) went for the package which included droid, personality chip and the back pack for $175. We’d allocated the $200 gift card that we had for it, so it came in at the right price!

The boxes look very similar in size to those from Build a Bear if that helps.

The box is 15 inches high. The top is a hexagon shape and 10 inches across. The R Droid is about 8 inches across and 13 inches high. It is definitely less bulky without the box and I think te box would get crushed in a carry on anyway. The droid isn't fragile looking. I would just wrap it well in my case or carryon and flatten the box.

Like the idea of the package as was considering the backpack for our son when he makes his droid in February. Guess it depends on whether he wants a personality chip for his or not as to whether the package is worth it.

We were BA on Sunday, carried both fully built lightsabre and droid in its box onto the plane in addition to our hand luggage. The driod fits into the overhead locker, the lightsabre fits under 2 seats.

The backPacks are $49.99

They are regularly out of stock. We built our droids on day 1 but had to wait until day 10 to get a back pack.

The droids also hammer through batteries too, so stock up!
