2 Fatties in a Fiat 500 - North Coast 500 - Day 4

Today was a nice short ride for us heading from Gairloch to Ullapool.

From Gairloch we drive out of the town and admire the views around us, we stop every so often for a little wonder around and take some pictures of the surrounding areas.

First port of call for us today was Mellon Udrigle Beach, now the beaches in Scotland are out of this world, and could easily have mistaken it for some beach in the Caribbean or Asia, white sand and crystal clear waters, just a shame the water temp wasn’t the same as the Caribbean! We took a stroll along the beach and I dipped my feet in the water for all of around 5 seconds before getting too cold, there were some mad folk just wadding in and was making me cold just thinking about it.

From the beach we head to Corrishalloch Gorge nature reserve and see the falls of Measach and the victorian suspension footbridge, which is extremely wobbly, and can only hold around 6 people at a time.

After a little explorer of the Gorge we head on over to Ullapool and arrive just after lunch. We drive over to our hotel for the night the Royal Hotel and ask if we can check in which the lovely receptionist allows us to do, our room is lovely and spacious and looks over the car park at the front and the bay of Ullapool, it also has a shared veranda which is a nice touch.

We decline to have dinner at the hotel as we are within walking distance of town. After dumping our bits in the room we head out for a stroll around town and pop to Tescos for some lunch bits. We grab a bench on the sea front to eat whilst watching the world go by.

Ullapool is again not huge so after a little while we have looked around the shops and seen most of the sights. We take a walk onto the beach and sit and watch the boats come and go.

Back at the room we chill out for a bit before heading out for dinner and grab some fish and chips which we take back to the room to eat, we watch some rubbish on tv before heading to bed.

I did this trip in August and did a trippie too. The dog and I did this almost exact day, we went to the beach, and the gorge, and stayed in Ullapool (but the night before) x
