Traverse City is great, stay on the lake its nice, Great Bear Dunes are huge and some nice light houses are on the coast.
Thank you, I haven't heard of Frankenmuth so will take a look now.
Traverse City does look lovely, we'd definitely stay on the lake if we can. OH has his eye on The Grand Traverse Resort which looks lovely but you have to pay upfront with the first night non refundable so not willing to do that until travel is looking clearer

This sounds amazing, I'd love to hear more about it.

My dh and I are looking to do a trip somewhere, but later in October as our two may be/hopefully will be going to Uni at the end of September, beginning of October and we need to be around to take them and all their gear! We haven't decided where to go yet...

I’ve not been but have you read CrispyA trip report on that area? https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1140775

They did visit the places you mentioned so might be helpful?

Frankenmuth is a really unusual place

Didn't spend much time there but visited Bronners and a local eatery ( with good beer)

I am writing the pre trippy as we speak and I'll definitely do a TR on return. We're really looking forward to it now. My DD starts Uni on the 20th Sept but isn't moving out so thankfully don't need to physically move her anywhere.
Ooh the world is your oyster, there are so many options. Mine unfortunately all revolve around golf

Oh my goodness, it looks like a German Disney World . Even if we don't stay there I think it definitely deserves a visit!

He he - have a wonderful time! I wished we’d booked to stay in Traverse City as it looked really nice.
