Will we won’t we, should we can we?

So no clearer a month on from when I last posted in the forum and finding it hard to motivate myself about this holiday.
Feels like I’ve done the necessary all but 1 hotels are booked, car hire done and will do insurance this week. Leaving ESTAs as still need to get youngest sons passport renewed but can’t seem to find the enthusiasm to do that. In fact I feel more and more exhausted by the whole thing and less sure about what will happen.
Is anyone else still hanging in for the summer?
Usually I have these trips planned within an inch of their lives! I know what we will be doing each day, restaurants to try extra activities researched and booked, you tube videos pored over and I’m getting more and more excited as the departure day gets nearer.
I can’t be bothered researching for this trip as I don’t want to be disappointed like last year when I had an amazing holiday to Canada planned which obviously never happened. But then I think what happens if it all goes ahead and we may not know until July! It’ll be mayhem and I won’t be ready.

It’s hard but hang on in there for another couple of weeks until there are some travel announcements and things will hopefully be a lot clearer then.
If I were you I would motivate myself to renew the passport though as if travel is permitted the passport office may be inundated and there may be delays.
If you are allowed to go you wouldn’t want to scupper that by not having a passport for your son. Fingers crossed for you!

I agree. Renew the passport and do the ESTA as there will be a rush if things open up. Most people I know are in the very apathetic 'couldn't be bothered' camp about summer holidays nut if the news is better than expected they will likely be booking last minute trips and applying for passports.

I also thing hang on just a little more. I really do think we'll know over the next few weeks what to expect. Whatever is announced by Boris, Biden etc and what the internal restrictions are by the end of May will tell the story for most if us waiting and watching.

But yes I'm also not enthusiastic this year even though I'm watching and standing by to get some flights and do. I think it's the disappointment I'm avoiding because it felt awful last year to have a fabulous trip planned that didn't pan out.

I know what you mean. We have our rearranged Canada/USA trip at the end of August. We also need to renew ESTAs and buy the Canadian ones.

I'm 90% sure USA will be allowed by then but not Canada. They're having real problems at the moment but hopefully the next 3 months will see a change, with the vaccines helping. I'm just not feeling it like I should be.

If we can't go then I will, hopefully, rearrange again - and we have plan B of a road trip in Wales booked under free cancellation - and in Florida in February!

Our trip was supposed to be Canada/USA too. Like you I'm not at all confident about Canada and too much stress if we have to test at the borders and all that so when one leg of our flight was cancelled we took a refund and are now hoping for USA some time before October. Canada/Seattle trip pushed back yet again to 2022. It had better be worth it I tell you as we booked initially in Jan 2019 so a 3 year 8 months wait to see Vancouver

Our originally cancelled March 2020 vacation included Canada (Vancouver). I never considered it when booking August 2020 as it was clear that there may be problems crossing the border. (My friend in Canada advised against).
I gave it a miss when booking yet again for August of 2021. Similarly theme parks, just a day in Warner Bros Studios and one in Universal.

For what it’s worth, I feel very confident about August and now have everything but attraction tickets and Estas in place.

Were not too far in front of you and holding out until the very last minute, whilst we've got hotels booked we've held off booking anything else for now. I am however starting writing packing lists and gathering all bits together so I can be ready at the drop of a hat.

Well all being well I’m off to Vegas for 3 weeks 26th July .

I haven’t booked flights yet , but i rarely do till a month before.. we do have rooms booked a South Point but i can easily change the dates if i needed too ..

I dont really have any plans for when I’m there other than spending time with my friend that’s recently moved there..
