Mobile St Augustine

Hi there, we have got a trip to Florida for august 21 which we are desperately hoping will go ahead! We are thinking of amending our two weeks in Orlando to now include 4 days staying in St Augustine. I wondered if anyone had been and what it is like? It looks lovely. We are considering booking the Hilton Garden inn or Courtyard by Marriott. Both close to the beach. This will be our 5th trip so looking for something different to do!

We've been to St Ag a number of times, very well worth the trip, both for a day trip and stayover.

While there definitely take one of the trolley tours (you can get multiple day tickets) because although the centre of St Ag is very walkable the trolley tour lets you see all the sights and is useful to get positioned as it is also 'hop on/off'.

Lots of nice shops, places to eat and coffee shops.

Have friends in Jacksonville so we have popped down to St Augustine a few times. Old town is beautiful just to wander around with some great places to eat and drink.

There are also some great different shops there as well. Might sound strange but there is a spice shop there with an amazing range of flavoured salt to buy.

If you are one for outlet shopping, often the St Augustine Outlets are a little cheaper than the Orlando ones.

We went for the day a few years ago, absolutely loved it - wished we had stayed overnight at least. Its very quaint with lots to do. We booked the Old Town Trolley tour which included entrance to lots of the museums and attractions

I stayed for 4-5 nights a couple of years back.

First settled area in US, very nice we loved it.

We stayed slightly out, right on the beach.

Highly recommended.

We went for the first time about six years ago and we loved it. The trolley tour is a fab way to get a feel for the place but it so easily walkable. Lots of lovely bars and coffee shops, loads with love music and patios to enjoy the sun. We are planning to go back this year for the last weekend before we fly home.

We stayed overnight but I can't remember what the motel as called. Definitely do the the trolley bus tour, I took loads of pictures of the fabulous architecture. We had lunch in a garden bar on the main walkway and our evening meal in an authentic Mexican restaurant just out of town.

Its a beautiful place but it was an incredibly hot August day when we went so we didn't walk as much as we might have done otherwise.

Love St Augustine!

We stay at the (new name) Marion Motor Lodge really close to the Old Town and near the Bridge of Lions. We are there for our usual 3 nights (just enough) in August.
Love the bars, restaurants etc. OHs love the shops.
We still do the tourist trips, trolley, ghost walks, Ripleys, fountain of youth etc.
We have a day at the beach with food, beer and cocktails at the brilliant Beachcomber.
All day Happy Hour at Scarlett O Hara's ! Wahay!
