I saw there is a serpentarium on East Irlo, has anyone been?

We regularly see Black Vultures and Turkey Vultures all over the place, all sorts of Herons, Egrets, Wood Storks, Pelicans and had Sandhill Cranes outside our villa when we arrived last time.
Seen Snail Kites, Bald Eagles and Ospreys while on an airboat trips too.

Apart from lizards all over the gaff, there was a snake laying on a bush while we were playing mini-golf once!

I think we are the only people to have never seen a wild snake in florida...yet

Have bought a bird book too and some binos

The only time that I have ever seen a snake in Florida after 9 trips was a black racer at Delnor Wiggins Park, Naples, along with a Manatee, Wild Tortoises and Turtle nests (under cages).

The only Armadillo was a flat, 'roadkill' one near to Destin.

The only Turtle, swimming under 7 mile bridge.

Never seen a racoon or a skunk (in Florida) yet, hundreds of Iguanas on the Keys, though..

Mad isn't it, I thought Florida would be crawling with wildlife but it's too good at hiding

We stayed in a villa a few years ago in what was Esprit. Was cooking a pizza and once the oven was warm a snake slithered out from below it! Hubble put a towel over it and put it outside. We let the owner know and she sent a message to the management company (but copied us in by mistake) telling them that the snake problem was back. Next day there was a note on our front door from a pest control company telling us a snake had been removed from the premises. Never saw any more thank goodness!

We saw a bobcat type large cat on the road to Cedar Key, some people we chatted to told us it was about and it was just crossing the road. It stopped and looked at our car just then strolled off. Also saw a black snake at Bok Gardens once
