First trip since 2014..

Hello everyone

As the title says, first trip back since 2014 December 2022 is booked . Just me and Dad

We are just doing Disney as we are only doing 11 days.

Staying at All Star Movies, but with a hire car as wanting to do some cheaper meals.

What has changed and what must we do?
I've noted the new 'booking a park' thing.. is that likely to still be a thing in December 2022?

Very excited!

Thanks in advance for all your help

Take into account that you now have to pay a daily charge for parking on Disney. This may not equate to those cheaper eats being a big saving .
There will be so many new things to see, happy planning

I would agree that the parking charges (believe it's currently $15/day at a value) is likely to wipe out a large portion of your dining savings for only two people. Especially if you wouldn't otherwise hire a car so have to factor that cost in as well.

The theme park timeline will show you everything that's changed going back to when the park opened, although note that changes in the past year may be temporary Covid measures and not necessarily permanent... https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/timeline.php

Although I'd say highlights since 2014...

MK:
New fireworks show (not currently running, but should be next year)
Mine Train might be new depending when you went in 2014, still very popular

AK:
The Pandora section opened. Flight of Passage is one of the most popular rides but the whole area is worth checking out.

Epcot:
Maelstrom ride is now Frozen themed
Soarin' is now around the world, not just California
Ratatouille ride (same as DLP) is due to open by the end of this year
Should have a new fireworks show soon

HS:
New Toy Story Land, Slinky is a very popular coaster
New Star Wars land, Rise of the Resistance is currently the hottest attraction
Mickey & Minnie ride has replaced Great Movie Ride

And yes, Chapek has confirmed park reservations will continue through 2022. I expect them to be permanent.

Depends on the resort - Value resorts are currently $15 plus tax per night.

Paying for resort parking does still get you free Theme Park parking so if you plan to use the car to get to the parks as well as go offsite then this softens the blow.

Yikes... you defo didn't have to pay to park your car at the Disney Hotels back in 2014..
We're gonna have a chat about maybe scrapping the car in that case.

Thank you for your helpful reply

This is incredibly useful for me too. Thank you! Hopefully Tron and Guardians open too?

The latest I've seen on Tron looks behind schedule, so I left it off the list as not sure when they'll complete.

Completely forgot about Guardians.
