Hi just finished our yellowstone trip. Would highly recommend going in via Cooke , simply awesome and then the drive through Lamar valley. We did the circle fire tour and we both thought fantastic , also did the evening wild life tour. The other parts of the park not covered we did on the other days. The tour guides were informative without going over the top . Well worth paying for these as they will Point out things you would otherwise miss. Bison everywhere, mule deer, prong horn, elk, moose, black bears and grizzlies

Booked my in and out flights now. Leaving from Austin, so will be planning where to go round there. We're fancying tubing on the river and horse riding on a ranch. And we'll be delaying coming home until the Sunday as we want to visit a theme park and they are only open on the weekends in September.

Not much more than before. We have flights to Denver on the first Saturday and flights out 2 weeks later from Austin on the Sunday. We've booked Yellowstone Lodge for the first week Tuesday through to Saturday.
Plan is to drive to Salt Lake City on that Saturday to fly to Texas (in laws going to LA) I don't know if flying late on Saturday or early on Sunday is better - probably Sunday so we don't have to rush our journey down. We'd like to do Dallas on a weekday. We're not sure weather we want to stay in a lovely place, like the side of a lake, but have to travel for food (or cook ourselves), or stay more in a town so we can walk to food and bars. We'd rather stay in one location for the week and are happy to travel an hour or two for a day trip. We'd also like to visit a ranch for some horse riding. |

And the plan now is that we are cancelling the trip. Unfortunatly my brother-in-law is undergoing cancer treatment and even though we are positive about that, we don't want to go driving all that way just the two of us. We did discuss doing just Texas, but we couldn't really get excited about planning and organising that.
So we will plan a more relaxing holiday later in the year. Thank you for everyone who gave me advice. |
